Indeed, and Andromeda is about the same mass as Milky Way, Milky Way is a little bit bigger, new observations say. And the counter rotating in the center is because of a galactic merge 100mln yrs ago. Andromeda is straight up younger than Earth.

Messier 31is the nearest what to the earth?

Messier 31 or M31 or the Andromeda Galaxy is the nearest large spiral galaxy to Earth. It is commonly assumed wrongly to be the closest galaxy to our own but other smaller galaxies are closer. In fact it is the 35th nearest galaxy to us.The Canus Major Dwarf Galaxy is thought to be closest at 42,000ly from the galactic core and 25,000ly from earth. Why astronomers see the spiral arms of the Andromeda galaxy more clearly than the spiral arms of the milky way galaxy?

Because quite simply, we can see the Andromeda in it's entirety - whereas we can't with the Milky Way

Is there any galaxy that is bigger than Andromeda galaxy?

Yes.The only ones I know is IC 1101 and Messier 87.The Andromeda galaxy is twice the size of our Milky Way.The Andromeda is 260,000 light years across, while the Milky Way is 100,000 light years across.A light year is 5,878,499,812,499 miles.

Will the Milky Way galaxy be combined with the Andromeda galaxy in about 450 billion years?

According to the best investigations and research available, a lot sooner than that.

Why can astronomers see the spiral arm of the Andromeda galaxy more clearly than the spiral arms of the milky way galaxy?

It's to do with where you are trying to view from. We are inside the Milky Way Galaxy looking out whilst the Andromeda Galaxy is a distance and we are looking towards it. Imagine your are stood in a crowd of people it's difficult to work out the exact shape of the crowd however if you were in a helicopter looking down on it you could.

Our galaxy is called milky-way. It had different kinds of stars, planets and super no a. It had hundreds to billions of stars in here Andromeda is more bigger than our galaxy, milky-way. Scientist says that milky-way and Andromeda will collide and will formed milkdromeda.

Is the Milky Way the biggest galaxy in outer space?

NO. There could be millions of galaxy in the universe, being larger than the milky way, e.g. the Andromeda.

Can the Andromeda galaxy have more gravity than the milky way?

They are both spiral galaxies, except the Milky Way is a barred spiral and the Andromeda is a typical spiral galaxy. The Andromeda has at least twice as many stars as the Milky Way, and it has more mass. The galaxies are going to merge in 4 billion years, and now they are about 2 million light years apart.

Galaxies closest to the milky way?

The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, which are 2 small galaxies orbiting the Milky Way.The Andromeda Galaxy, which is slightly larger than the Milky Way.The Triangulum Galaxy, which is slightly smaller than the Milky Way.

Is the Andromeda Nebula Galaxy closest to The Milky Way Galaxy Or is there another that is even closer?

The closest galaxies to the Milky Way are(in order of increasing distance):Sagittarius Dwarf GalaxyCanis Major Dwarf GalaxyThe Large Magellanic CloudThe Small Magellanic CloudThe Andromeda GalaxyThe Triangulum GalaxyNote: The first four galaxies are dwarfs, which are significantly smaller than the Milky Way. The two Magellanic Clouds are in orbit around our Milky Way. The Andromeda Galaxy is around 15% heavier than the Milky Way(I'm not very sure about this, but you can check in Wikipedia). The Triangulum Galaxy is around 20% lighter than the Milky Way(Not very sure about this also).

If Hubble saw the Andromeda galaxy first and deduced the galaxies are all flying away from each other why is the Milky Way soon going to collide with Andromeda?

andromeda and milky way (us) maybe moving in the same direction but the milky way is the smaller and 'lighter' so we may be moving faster than the 'bulky' andromeda galaxy hence why there is a strongly suggested theory that we may collide but not in our lifetime. hope this helps

Why is there more gravity in the Andromeda galaxy than the milky way?

Because there are more stars therefore a stronger gravitational pull

How large is the Andromeda Galaxy?

M31 diameter is 220,000ly, Milky Way diameter is 258,000ly, according to newest observations, we are almost 2x more massive
