the MAUSER C96 was a semiautomatic pistol with an option to go fully automatic with over an estimated 1000 round per minute, that means that the entire clip would be gone in about 1 to 2.5 second now that's fast!
You can find the C96 Mauser in Operation Varsity. First go into the warehouse in front of you when you jump out the plane and head for the control room. There, you will find this safe with a glowing red box on it. Place a charge and take cover. You will find the C96 Mauser on the floor.
It MAY. The "broomhandle" Mauser was originally made for a bottlenecked cartridge, the .30 Mauser. It was later made in caliber 9mm Parabellum.

The Gatling guns of the late 19th century, although it was hand-cranked. The first automatic machine gun was the Maxim Gun, in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The first submachine gun (handheld) was the 1896 Mauser schnellfeurer Construktion 96 (aka Mauser C96). See links below:
The the first ones were manufactured in Spain, then Germany followed suit. China manufactured unlicenced copies of the Spanish pistols, and the Brazilians manufactured a modified variant of the German pistols.
Are you sure you're thinking of the C96? The C96 is the "broomhandle" Mauser pistol, and the projectile itself may travel out to 1,000 metres under the right circumstances, but the effective range is considerably less - around 50 - 75 metres. The only other Mauser rifle with a "96" nomenclature was the Swedish M/96 long rifle. That is a rifle capable of reaching out and touching something at 1000 metres - if the firer is able to place the shot. A more realistic effective range - particularly for a rifle using only iron sights - would be 600 - 800 metres.

The Mauser C96 is not a carbine - it's a pistol. Furthermore, the reason modern intermediate cartridge assault rifles were created stems largely from German research of their battles in the First World War, which found that most firefights occurred at ranges of less than 200 metres. And just because the sights adjust to 1000 metres, doesn't mean you'll actually hit a target at that range - most snipers won't even engage at such a distance, and a typical line soldier probably wouldn't be able to see the enemy at such a distance.
The Germans used the Kar 98k Bolt-Action Rifle, MP40, MP44, Luger Pistol, Panzerfaust Rocket Lancher, Gewerhr 41 Semi-Automatic Rifle, MG42, Potato Masher Hand Grenade, Mauser C96 Pistol and some more but those are the main weapons used by the Germans.
