I think the answer is Keokuk, Iowa and would like to know how wide the Mississippi is in Keokuk
I always understood it to be near Thomson, in northwestern Illinois. The sign posted there says that it is nearly 3 miles across from the Illinois to the Iowa side of the river!
At its source, Lake Itaska, the Mississippi is less than 20 metres wide.

No, the Mississippi River is not the longest river, but the second longest river at 2,340 miles long. The longest river in the USA is the Missouri River, measuring 200 miles longer!
The widest river in the world is the Amazon River. The second widest river in the world is the Nile River, which is the longest river in the world.
The Nile River in Egypt is the longest river in the world. The Amazon in South America is the widest. The Mississippi is the longest in America.
The widest river in the World is the Río de la Plata at 220 kilometres (140 mi) at the mouth.A lot depends on the definition of a river and where a river stops becoming a river, and becomes an estuary or a gulf or an inland sea. For the argument, this question has been based on the width when the river leaves the coastline.
Yes, it is the widest.
The Amazon River is considerably longer than the Mississippi River. At around 4,000 miles, the Amazon River is 1,700 miles longer.

I am sorry but neither the Nile is the longest river in the world reaching to4,135 miles long! the Mississippi is the 4th longest reaching 3,870 miles! And the Amazon is the widest: 330 kilometres! Mississippi is about 20-30 feet wide. PS: Did you know as time goes on rivers run deeper and deeper into the earth? That's how the grand canyon was created! (I figured that out myself I did not study it!)
