no.
Needs new alternator.
If your 1997 Mercury Tracer has a battery light that blinks on and off while the car is running, it most likely means that the battery is not charging. This could be an issue with your alternator.
For a 1999 Mercury Tracer : In the passenger compartment fuse panel The panel is labelled " CIGAR " and will be a 20 amp fuse
Assuming it is the same as the 1998 Mercury Tracer : The fog light switch is on the turn signal lever , next to the head light switch * you probably need to have your head lights on low beam
Follow the positive cable wire from the battery and it will end up plugged right into the safety switch.
There is no change transmission lamp.
you have a fault code on emission systems
On a ( 1996 ) Mercury Tracer , the " check engine " warning light is at theBOTTOM of your instrument panel under the right hand side of the fuel gauge ( under the " F " )
the brake light switch is just above the brake pedal. I just bought one for my own 97 tracer yesturday and need to install it.
A fuel cut-out in a Mercury Tracer 93 is a sensor which will check the fuel level or can prevent the flow of fuel and thus a car cannot move. When this happens, the fuel cut out light will come on.Ê
Check bulbs Check Fuse Check stop light switch
The RPM change affecting the light seems to indicate that it's the alternator. Perhaps it has a bad voltage regulator? Maybe it's not the right alternator for your car?
