Lions are viviparous. They do not lay eggs. Mother lions give birth to live young ones called cubs. Since they give birth to live young, they are classified as viviparous

It depends on the species - many are ovoviviparous, meaning that eggs are laid internally, but the young hatch within the female's body before swimming out. This prevents the shark eggs from being consumed by predators, while only adding a small amount of mass to the female shark.

Only 9 species of sharks actually lay eggs (oviparous) and even fewer have placental live birth (viviparous), where baby sharks grow within the mother shark rather than in eggs.
