Is Ghost Hunters real or fake?

The TAPS organization is one of the best funded and highly experienced teams of Paranormal Investigators in the country. Though there are many other noted people who have been in the field for as long or longer than Jason and Grant, the income provided by their show Ghost Hunters has allowed them the opportunity to get and use key equipment, try new equipment and investigative methods, and gain access to sites that otherwise would be out of reach for the rest of us active investigators. They are the team that many others model their own organizations and methods after, though not as many are actually near as good.

It's important to note that the show's presentation depicts only a small part of each investigation; most investigations take several hours to complete (including about an hour for setup and takedown), and many hours for subsequent analysis of all recordings. The show is edited down so the viewer gets only the best of what they've collected. Acoustic recordings must be transferred to a hard drive, then viewed on an analysis program while being listened to in real time. If you have 5 recorders each with 5 hours of recordings, that's 25 hours of stuff to listen to and analyze. Same with video analysis as well. The show makes it look easy, but in reality it's a very long and time consuming process, and not always with any results. But that's the nature of Paranormal Investigations.

The evidence that TAPS chooses to present (EVP's, IR video, etc.) is consistent with what my own team and others routinely gather. But for many people, they have to witness it themselves before becoming true believers - no amount of audio or video, no matter how convincing, is enough to convert a true skeptic. Seeing an Entity manifest in front of you will change anyone's mind though, no matter how skeptical.

Most people have never seen a ghost/entity, or experienced a Paranormal event; and even if they do, their faith or other core beliefs or unwillingness to face the fact that they might exist prevents them from believing what they've seen. However, if you ever do encounter any type of entity, be it an active or residual one, it will change your life forever. Probably scare you too if you're not prepared for it.

If it were fake, there would be more phenomena purely for the entertainment value, unfortunately, they try very hard to get something concrete and they debunk many of their own theories. Of the people they contact who are experienced and in the field of paranormal investigations, the GAC enlist their technology and expertise for other opinions.

In one episode, one such "experienced" paranormal investigator plainly "threw" an EMF meter about 20 feet ahead of him. He later claimed that it was knocked out of his hand, but Nick Groff had a night vision camera trained on him during this event. The GAC watched it and clearly stated that he was invited as a another helpful source and that they see no paranormal evidence at all to support his claim.

The GAC were feeling a little embarassed for having involved such a fraud in their honest investigtions, but they explained why they give each person the benefit of the doubt. In any case, Zak Bagans mentions often that the devices they use might bring about strange effects and artifacts, but the psychological and emotional sensations of being in the proximity of an unknown prescense is a far greater indicator than that of any kind of technology. However, they have had some scary audio recordings and unusual video footage which cannot be explained by anyone.

I'm a skeptic and I've had experiences which I've either debunked, made a scientific justification for or simply refused to believe, but I truly believe that Zak, Nick and Aaron are trying very hard to prove something exists beyond our perception of life and death. I just find them a little more fun than T.A.P.S. because they are more daring.

It could be a figment of our imagination or really unexplainable

the lines are not scripted like operation repo or the Blair witch project

perhaps, like me you visit so-called haunted places and experiment for yourself

I would tend to believe Ghost Adventures more than I would believe TAPS. Grant Wilson of TAPS (Ghost Hunters) got caught red handed trying to make it appear that a spirit had tugged really hard on the back of his jacket. It was actually fishing wire he had attached to the inside of his jacket and down his right sleeve, so that when he straightened out his right arm, his collar would magically move. I used to have a lot of respect for Grant, but he lost me with this blatant attempt to fabricate evidence.

Additional answers:

1. If they are faking, it will be tough to catch because they control their own media "evidence".
2. If they were ever caught, it would destroy their careers. I think they'd even be open to lawsuits from past clients who could claim some kind of mental duress.
3. They have deemed many sites "not haunted", even though they could have faked their way through. This may seem like a ploy to remain credible but does not seem to fit their modis operandi.
4. I can't make a complete judgment as to whether they are real or fake unless I accompanied them on a ghost hunt and observed the same things they did. Then, why would anyone believe me either? As you can see, anyone who is a skeptic would probably have to live through the experience in order to truly judge with some degree of authority.

5. to be honest i never really had a true experience with spirits i have had a few minor experiences that could have just been my mind playing tricks on me but i do believe that tapes is real....
