The Taiga is a biome which is also known as a boreal forest. Consisting of mostly coniferous forests. It is the worlds biggest biome. Winter in the Taiga lasts around 5 - 7 months, with average temperatures below freezing. Temperatures vary throughout the year from −54 °C to 30 °C (-65 °F to 86 °F).

Additional Info: Taiga Biome or Boreal Forest is nearly a continuous belt of coniferous trees across North America and Eurasia. Cold woodlands, close to the polar regions with some areas of permafrost.

Taiga is the belt of pine forests on the northern hemisphere, such as Scandinavia, Russia and Canada. Tundra is the plain to the north of that, where it´s too cold for trees and growth is limited to shrubs.
