It should be inside the small housing that the top radiator hose connects to the engine
It is located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. Take the thermostat housing off. When replacing the thermostat make sure the spring goes toward the engine. It is not the upper radiator hose...it is the lower one..
IT IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IN LINE WITH THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE, BOTTOM ON THE RADIATOR. IT IS IN A SOMEWHAT ROUND HOUSING.
THE thermostat IS IN THE HOUSING ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE LOWER RAD HOSE.
The thermostat is actually located on the lower radiator hose and you would need to order the new one from a toyota dealership because auto stores do not carry the right one.
I am now able to answer my own question for anyone else who may be interested. It is located near the engine by the lower radiator hose.

The location of the thermostat in a 1994 Corolla 1.8L is in the top radiator hose. The thermostat is in this hose where the hose meets the water pump.
You should locate the upper radiator hose and follow it to its ending destination, the ending point should be a little neck coming out of the block there should be to 10mm or 12mm bolts the thermostat will be under that housing. follow the top radiator hose back to the engine and that's where the thermostat housing shoould be. Take it off and replace the thermostat with the spring end toward the engine. Update: The information above is absolutely incorrect. The thermostat on a 1993-1997 Corolla is at the terminaltion of the LOWER radiator hose.

The thermostat is not in the lower radiator hose of a vehicle. Thermostats tend to be placed at the end of the lower radiator hoses, not inside them.
On a 1993 Toyota Camry Vienta, the thermostat can be easily located by following the lower radiator hose to the point where it attaches to the engine. When replacing the thermostat, always replace gaskets as well.
