When shopping for a radar detector be aware that the lower end brands do not offer the performance necessary to be truly effective. A high-end radar detector is a very worthwhile investment for anyone that drives that, in many cases, can pay for itself if it helps you avoid only one citation. As with safety equipment, you do not want to pinch pennies when purchasing a radar detector.
