On a 2001 Monte Carlo it is located on the radiator just below the radiator cap.
generally located where the upper radiator hose meets the block, under the throttle body Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, there should be the thermostat housing. And there is no drain plug on an 2002 Monte Carlo 3.8 v6 , so you will lose less antifreeze if you just disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing then hold that hose up. I only lost maybe a quart of antifreeze.
It is at the worst place possible on the bottom of radiator. It is sometimes easier to remove one end of the lower hose to drain system. Many times you have to take aprt the radiator shroud( usually a 2 piece) to get at the plug.
You have a top radiator hose and a bottom radiator hose.
The cast of Monte Carlo - 2002 includes: Mackenzie Munroe

yes it is.
To drain the radiator on a monte carlos 3.8 SS, the best way & dat will save u more time will b by removing the the hose dats on the bottom of the radiator (which is about 1 inch all around on the bottm) which is in the bottom of the radiator & connets to the motor block,1) just remove the clamp from the bottom hose ; the 1 dat conects to da radiator. Youll need a flathead onced u raised it wit da jack. Unscrew the clamp frm the hose n pull hose out with screw driver & hand den da radiator liquid will flush out so move out quick! hope dis will help as This helped me on my 02 ss monte chevy
why would a 2003 Monte Carlo hesitate between 30-45 mph
2002 Monte carlos are not rear wheel drive
Bottom drivers-side, engine-side corner of the radiator. A total pain to get to and there's part of the frame in the way, so coolant gets everywhere. (This is from experience gained within the last 30 minutes.) It's also plastic and can break if you're not careful. Some recommend disconnecting the lower radiator hose on the other side instead.
The drain should be on the lower drivers side of the radiator.
It's located in the gas tank.
