On the right side of gear shift lever, there is a long narrow plastic bin probably 1 inch wide and about 3 inch long and 1.5 inch deep.
Pull this bin up by grabbing inside.
You will find a window below and a pink plastic tab.
Gently push this pink plastic tab to release gear shift lever from park in case of emergency (only).

The shift lock release is usually a button on the side of a shifter. The shift lock release button needs to be pushed in before the car can be moved from Park to another gear.

If the button doesn't move at all on the shift knob it is this. There is a small white part attached to button linkage with a bearing at the top of it. Odds are it is broken and it won't push in because that bearing tip broke of and is jammed in the button assembly of the shift knob.. take off the shift knob and buy the replacement part after prying out the rest of that part from the stick.
Because to press a button to shift a button is like pressing shift to press hard.

Pull up the shift boot, on the right rear of the shifter body is a button that you press in and hold while you shift into gear.
