Is there a rule against posting irrelevant information in answers to questions on WikiAnswers?
If a member was spamming questions with irrelevant information, completely off-topic, they can expect to face consequences. However, if the information is somewhat relevant to the question being asked, it is fine.

Every question and answer at WikiAnswers is contributed to by regular visitors like you. It's all co-operative. We depend on you to ask questions, and we also depend on you to help answer other people's questions. Most questions will get a reply from a nice person, supervisor, expert, or regular use…r who can at least point you in the right direction, if not give you a definitive answer. All WikiAnswers questions are asked and answered by visitors just like you. It is highly unlikely that all the questions here will ever be answered right away since: . Thousands of new questions are asked every day. . Some questions are virtually unanswerable. Yes. Some questions on WikiAnswers get answered. This one just did. A tip for getting your question answered is to make sure that it is in the correct category, and the question is grammatically correct. Of the four questions (including this one) you posted - two were answered fairly quickly. The question 'What is permanetly froaen subsoil called' - contained two spelling errors which you should have corrected before you submitted it. Your final question (this one) has obviously now been answered ! You must remember this is not a live website - it's a forum . You need to be patient to wait for someone to log-on and actually read your question before they can answer it ! ( Full Answer )
If the questions you're looking at have been answered by other contributors, then you should see them on the same page as the question. They'll appear in the middle of the page. If the question hasn't been answered, you will see a graphic stating that no one has answered the question yet -- maybe yo…u can assist someone by answering it if you know the answer. ( Full Answer )
That's a tough one. Some questions are more difficult to answer than others. For instance, "how do I break up with my boyfriend?" There are a lot of those and they may sit around longer before they are answered. However, who was the third president of the United States is an easier one because it's …objective. WikiAnswers has more answered questions than unanswered ones, but new questions and answers are being added every few minutes so the numbers are never static.. To give it some quantitative sense, according to the conference call by Answer's management on August 13, 2007, out of the total 670,000 questions 375,000 were answered. It gives a slightly better ratio that two to one. ( Full Answer )
There are a number of places - depending on what the fundraising is for. There is a Fundraising section under the Politics heading, in 'Business Plans', and also in 'Entertainments and Arts'
No, The answers are people like you that want to spend their time to help give as correct as possible answers. So that means that you can answer questions also. Actually, there are some bots answering, but the majority of the answers come from real people.
Well we do.... Mostly and a lot of the time. But sometimes we don't understand the question, and sometimes we don't get to it because there are so many questions and so little time in a day to research and provide good answers. And then, sometimes, somebody will answer a question when that person (a…hem) really shouldn't be allowed access to a keyboard and by answering the question (even wrongly) it drops off the high priority list and we just don't see it.. If you are not happy with an answer then please, rephrase the question and ask again. We try. We really, really try to provide good, solid information to reasonable questions.. Smile... Life is too short to frown all day..... ;-). And another thing..... We don't get paid for this, you know. If the question is, well, plain ridiculous then nobody bothers to answer. Who the hell cares if Joe-Schmuck wants to know the date of manufacture of shotgun serial number xxxx...? I mean, Have you READ some of the questions people ask? Sheeeeesh.... ( Full Answer )
No. WikiAnswers is a community-based Q&A website. They look totheir users to ask and answer questions. Those who answer tend to see showing off their knowledge as its ownreward.
If you believe that your question has sufficient information to beanswered and should not have been placed into this catch-allquestion, please e-mail GoodQuestion @ WikiAnswers.com and requestthat it be made into a separate question. Please ask your question again and include more information in it….WikiAnswers is designed to provide a specific answer to a specificquestion. Tip: Don't use pronouns such as he, she, it, them, their, his, her, its, and so forth in your question. Chances are,we won't know who she , he , them , and what it is and won't be able to answer your question. You mustindicate the subject properly in your question. However, questionsin which the subject is already indicated, may use those pronouns. For example, "When Miley Cyrus starred on Hannah Montana how oldwas she ?" is okay. . Questions that do not contain enough information cannotbe answered -- asking "did he die?" or "how did she become rich?"cannot be answered because we do not know who you are asking thequestion about. * Multiple choice questions cannot be answered ifyou do not include the choices in the question. These typicallyinclude the phrase "which of the following" at the beginning of thequestion and the questioner does not include "the following"choices in the question; thus, we don't have enough information toanswer your question. Another example is asking a question about avehicle without providing the make, model, year, and engine size. This information is almost always necessary. . Questions that are too broad Questions such as "What arethe names of all cars ever made?" are too broad to be answered.Simply giving a list of words does not ask a question that we knowhow to answer. . Questions that require us to look at a picture ordiagram that you have in front of you cannot be answeredbecause we cannot see your assignment page. . Partial questions or question fragments cannot beanswered because a sentence fragment such as "preparation for aposition" or "pi plus" do not explain what your question is andcannot be answered. . Questions that are actually statements cannot beanswered because they are not questions. "You are in love with aboy and he does not know you exist" is not a question and cannot beanswered. . Questions that should be asked in a chat room cannot beanswered because this is not a chat room. "Who are you?" or "Whatis your favorite color?" are not questions that can be answered onthis website. . Questions that ask for university results cannot beanswered here because that information is only released to thestudent themselves; if you haven't got your results yet, nobodyelse will have them for you either. The WikiAnswers Stylebook willhelp you write a proper question that can be answered for you. Seerelated links below. . Questions about prices cannot be answered here becausewe need to know which store you are asking about, which particularbrand/size/style of item you are asking about, and the date uponwhich you are asking for the price. Prices vary daily, and eachstore will have its own pricing and sales. . Coin-Appraisal Questions with Insufficient Information There are several criteria that are required to give an evaluationof a coin. If one or more of these criteria is missing, anevaluation is not going to be very accurate: . denomination . country of origin . year of minting . condition Latitude and Longitude Questions with Insufficient Information If you ask questions such as 'What is located at 30 degreeslatitude and 30 degrees longitude?', there could be four possibleanswers since direction was not specified. Therefore, pleaseinclude the directions (e.g. north, east, south, west). An exampleof a good question would be, 'What is located at 30 degrees northlatitude and 30 degrees east longitude?'. Time-Zone Questions with Insufficient Information When asking about the time in different places around the worldWikiAnswers can only answer if we know (1) the place of interestand (2) a reference point. Bad: What time is it now in England? Good: What time is it in England if it is 11 AM in PerthAustralia? Bad: What time is it in Central Time? Good: What time is it in Central Time if it is 2 PM in SanFrancisco? Bad: If it's midday in the US what time is it Japan? (Thereis more than one time zone in the US.) Good: What time is it in Japan if it's midday in Chicago? Bad: How many hours is Tonga behind? Good: How many hours is Tonga behind Tahiti? The differences are quite clear. It might make sense to YOU when asking, but please note that itmight be hours or days before someone looks at your question. Inthe bad examples, above, do you see how someone answering might be,well, a bit flippant and just say "8 PM", or "Evening", or even"Working time"? And that would not really help you out, would it? Just for reference: Russia has 11 time zones; Asia has up to eight(depending upon how you count); the USA has six or more dependingupon DST; Australia has six or more, depending upon DST; SouthAmerica and Africa each has four; Mexico has four or (one of whichdoes not observe DST) or more; Europe and Greenland each has three;and the Middle East has a whole fistful. Time zones between areas or countries may be as few as 15 minutesapart or as many as 120 minutes apart. Memphis, TN, USA is NOT thesame as Memphis, Egypt. Be specific: Help us to help you! WikiAnswers cannot answer many types of questions. Here are some questions that cannot be answered, and will be dropped from the site: . Chatting - questions like "What are you doing?" and "What is the homework?" cannot be answered because this is not a chat room. . Vague Questions - questions t…hat are too vague, like "What is the meaning of life?" or "Why?" cannot be answered. . Date & Timestamp . Actually, WikiAnswers does post the date and time of questions and answers, but it is somewhat hidden from first view. To see the date and time the question was asked or to see the date and time of each individual addition to its answer, simply click on the link "History of Cha…nges" to the left of your screen in the blue toolbar under "Question Tools." The History of Changes displays all changes made to a Q&A along with the user (or IP user if unregistered) who made the change, what the change was, and when it was made. Hopefully, this date and timestamp will be visible on the Q&A page when loaded sometime in the future. ( Full Answer )

Deleting Answers . That depends on a few things. Answers should not typically be removed from questions. Answers that are candidate for removal are those that are offensive or inflammatory; does not answer the question; are debates or discussions (should be placed in that question's discuss…ion pages instead); or are so nonsensical that they cannot be salvaged into something that makes sense with the question. So, basically, yes, answers that are completely irrelevant to the question would generally be removed. However, that's not to go without saying that it is perfectly fine to expand within the answer relevant topics that may be of interest to the question. For example: The question asks, "When is the next leap year?" The answer would be "In the year 2012." That answer alone completely answers the question. However, someone may add, "Leap year occurs every four years to make up for the extra 1/4 of a day in which Earth actually completes a revolution around the sun, but is not counted each year on our calendars." This portion of the answer is also great for the question, because it gives the reader a little more information about the question (how often it happens and why), and would be considered relevant. Extraneous information is not a bad thing here, as long as the question is properly addressed and noticeable. Now, for opinionated questions, such as those commonly found in the Religion categories, answer removal is restricted even more so. It is not okay to remove someone's answer just because you don't agree with it or find it to be wrong according to what you believe in. It is perfectly fine to provide within an answer, two sides (or 3 - a Pro/For, Con/Against, Middle) provided the answers address the question and do not stray into discussion or debates. We have Guidelines for answering questions. You can read them by going to the Related Links below. Generally, as long as you answer respectfully without calling people names and your answer is true and accurate, possibly backed up with some facts, things are fine. Things to avoid are debate, one-…word answers, vandalizing and spamming (among some others). Spamming only gives Supervisors more to do because spam is removed so a proper answer can be given. Personal information like addresses and phone numbers are also not allowed, and neither are answers that tell how to perform illegal acts. Those are removed, too. For more information about spamming and vandalizing answers, please go to the Related Links. ( Full Answer )

Knowledge, a good feeling that you just helped someone, and the feeling of win that you answered it before someone else.
unfortunately, all of the questions in the whole world cannot be answered. you can answer them yourself, if you know what the answer is to them, if you become a member of wikianswers. Many questions are also repeats of older answered questions, if you find these you should request a question merge.
Anyone with a question that has access to WikiAnswers. question: i cant post a question on wiki.. help me out. how to do it.??
To help ensure that your question is answered be sure to put it in the correct category or subcategory. Also be sure to use proper spelling, and if you can be specific as possible.
For a question to have enough information to be answered, the asker can't just assume someone knows what they mean. Be very specific. If you are asking about a specific person, place, or thing, use the name, and not the pronoun. X = What books did she write? â = What books did JK Rowling w…rite? When the word "she" was used, no one knew who the asker was talking about. X = How much money does he make a year? â = How much money does Donald Trump make a year? Same thing here. No one could just guess at who "he" is. X=How do you open the hood? â = How do you open the hood on a 2007 Ford Ranger? Every car is different. People need to know which type you are talking about. X = What is it all about? â = What is the play Potted Potter about? Again, no one would know what "it" is. ( Full Answer )

WikiAnswers does have a lot of answers to questions... but a lot of questions are also unanswered. One thing to try is to ask your question in a little bit different way. Often, there is an already-answered question with a wording that is a little bit different. We try to merge those questions toget…her so that people get answers, but it is a big job, and we are never caught up. ( Full Answer )
The answers are sourced from members of the public. If the answers are irrelevant, then there may be a few reasons why this occurs. . The question is irrelevant. People do ask daft questions sometimes. Sometimes people answer back with daft answers. It happens! . The question is badly formed and… unanswerable. Spelling mistakes happen especially if you're not using your native tongue. . The question cannot be answered e.g How many grains of sand are there? . The answer has been vandalised. Fear not, ferocious humans patrol this site who's task it is to deal with pests. . The answer is actually a joke or making fun of the question. Humour in moderate quantities is welcome, just sometimes people over do it. Of course if you don't like the answers given you could always add your own..correct one. ( Full Answer )
It is not particularly against the rules unless you are doing it deliberately as a form of vandalism. Instead, you should edit the questions if they were asked wrong or flag the answer if it is abusive or doesn't answer the question. You could also go to the talk page and clarify your intent if the …answers you get are not applicable to why you are asking. You can even contact the contributors if you don't like their answers, as long as you keep it civil. There are site vandals who keep posting many similar nonsense questions. The most notorious one is known by supervisors as the "Object Vandal" because all of their initial questions contained the word "object." The questions are clearly nonsense and are all very similar to one another. This type of activity is against the rules. ( Full Answer )
Write a short question that mentions the subject matter, and thenuse the Discuss feature to clarify and add further information.
No, people that make a post on another's message board has nothing to do with the rules. Some people do this when sharing emails for example, they give them the email and the immediately delete the message from the other's message board. A bit more: While the practice of deleting messages is not …officially against the rules, it is discouraged because of its disruptive nature. Of course, as the above answer states, it is perfectly fine to delete a message from another person's message board if they have asked you to do so after reading the personal information, or have given you permission to do so. There are also some who will post angry or inappropriate content on another person's message board, then delete it, knowing the intended recipient will have seen it by then. This is not allowed, and the subject of such messages are contrary to guidelines on community behavior, and can result in an official warning or even being blocked from the site. ( Full Answer )
