IY IS A FUSE, NOT A SENSOR. THERE ARE 3 FUSE BLOCKS, ONE IS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE OTHER TWO ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE KICK PANELS UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, YOUR FUSE PANEL SHOULD BE LABELED BUT IF NOT CHECK ALL YOUR FUSES. JUST MAKE SURE TO REPLACE ANY BAD FUSES WITH THE CORRECT AMP FUSE.ANSWERTHERE IS A SENSOR LOCATED ON THE THERMOSTATT HOUSING. IT CAN GO BAD, RESULT WILL BE FAN WON'T GO ON OR WON'T STAY ON, CAR WILL OVERHEAT IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC
The fuse is located in the fuse box in the passenger compartment, drivers side, to the left of where your left foot is (when sitting in drivers seat). The fuse and relay box under the hood behind the battery that is rectangular in shape and is the large of the two black boxes contains "fan relay 1" which is for the radiator cooling fan. If there are other relays in that same box that have the same part numbers listed, you can swap them out to see if the relay is bad.
There are three coolant sensors installed to a 1989 Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL. One is a thermostatic valve switch that controls vacuum lines and is located near the passenger side of the carburetor and below the intake manifold. This can be identified by the hoses connected to it. The two other coolant sensors are located immediately before the big water hose leading to the radiator (upper hose). These two sensors can be identified by their electrical connectors. The bigger terminal is connected to a relay that controls the operation of the radiator fan. The smaller terminal is connected to the temperature gauge at the instrument panel.
