Yes, not only do you need to remap but you first need to put a high flow air cleaner on it. If you change the airflow out you need to change the airflow in and vise verse. then you need to have it run on a dyno to get the correct map and air fuel ratio.
I think so because for some reason my keyboard was re-mapped and I suspect a virus.

Basically, on a fuel injected motorcycle, whenever you do anything to the engine or exhaust that affects air flow, whether intake or exhaust, you have to remap the engine, which means hooking it up to a computerized tuner that resets the fuel/air mixture, among other things, so the bike runs at optimal efficiency.
Nope there is only 1 re map
You can take a LONG steel pointed rod and punch out the baffles. The You don't have to remap or do anything. It sounds slightly louder..a nice sound and the throttle response increased from a ded stop. the baffles are not able to be removed since they're welded in place but you can drill them out or just punch through them.

To remap a cars E.C.U its done by a special diagnostic programme through the OBD service port. Remapping a car can be a major hazard and is not recommened to ensure the car for the future to come as in the long run can cause the car to run poorly but in the short time can give the car a good boost in performance. this proccess can be done at performance centres and can carry a very hefty charge. Hope this is of some help Mechanic Rob.

If it is a 4.6 or a 4.0 then yes if it's the 2.5 BMW diesel engine than no the diesel engine on one of those is the best they run for around 220,000 miles and are faultless the only thing you will want to check is the air suspension my dad has had one of these new and it was brilliant then he sold it for the newer version but then re-brought another and the air suspension had failed do he had to pay 3k to have that done and then the ecu needed a remap. Point being look at the suspension more than the engine.
