Is there a way to temporarily disable all interior lights in the Ford Explorer XLT so they don't come on when the doors are open?
locate the fuse to the interior lights and remove it. On our 98 Explorer you turn the dash light adjustment switch off, next to the headlight switch.
The alarm brain is located in the rear of the SUV, in the jack compartment. You can disable it temporarily by removing the horn fuse, or by unplugging the harness from the brain. Unfortunatly the latter will cut your interior lights, but at least your horn won't sound off everytime you shut off your truck.
There is a spot, all the way down, on the dimmer 'scroll-wheel' type dial that will disable the interior lights When I had one of those common problems with the false 'door ajar' situations, my 2001 SEL deactivated the interior lights. Once I resolved the false signals coming from the liftgate, the interior lights automatically started behaving normally all by themselves. See "Related Questions" below for more
I'm not a mechanic / technician but on a 1997 Ford Explorer I believe that if the gauge panel dimmer switch ( to the right of your headlight switch ) is rotated all the way up it will turn on all the interior courtesy lights when the doors are closed Also , is the " DOOR AJAR " warning light on in your dash to the left of the fuel gauge , if so either…
Just to the right of your headlight switch is a dimmer wheel for your gauge lighting If the dimmer wheel has been rotated all the way up , your interior courtesy lights will stay on ( even with your doors closed ) If your interior lights are on with a door ajar indicator light on in your gauge cluster , either a door ,your liftgate , or your liftgate glass is not closed or you…
How do you disable daytime running lamps temporarily on a 2005 Chevy Impala for the drive in theaters?
Why would the interior dash lights go out when you turn on the headlights in a Ford Explorer Limited?
Every vehicle that I've experienced this problem in was due to the tail light fuse being burned out. This condition is because the tail lights and dash lights share a common fuse, which makes the dash lights act as an indicator as to whether or not your tail lights are working (although, this doesn't indicate whether the bulbs are good or not).
2002 Camry LE Where do you find the switch to turn the interior lights onso that when you open the door the interior light will come on?
To the right of your headlight switch is a dimmer switch for your gauge cluster lighting - I'm not sure if it's the same on your F150 as my Explorer but when my dimmer switch is rotated all the way up it turns on my interior lights . Also if you have a door ajar light lit up in your gauge cluster , you probably have a sticking door ajar switch
Check your guage light dimmer wheel ( just to the right of your headlight switch ) to see if it has been rotated all the way up - that turns on your interior lights. Also , if you are getting a door ajar warning light in your gauge cluster you could have a door ajar switch sticking inside one of your doors , liftgate , or for the liftgate glass
Is there a way to temporarily disable all interior lights in the Oldsmobile Aurora so they don't come on when the doors are open?
In most cars there is a switch which allows the driver to turn on the light when needed, have it off all together, or to turn on when a door is opened. Find this switch and set it to Off. In most cars, this switch can be found near or attached to the dome light. In some American made cars, this switch is found on the dash board--usually to the left of the steering wheel…
