Only reason would be that the heater core is leaking.
There are several reason why a car might lose antifreeze. The water pump might be bad, one of the radiator hoses could be leaking, the radiator could have a leak, a freeze plug could be leaking, or it could have a blown head gasket.
Hose leaking Water pump leaking
Perhaps water pump is leaking?
It would be a good thing to see where it is leaking from....
No. they're dissolved in each other and are quite hard to seperate.
intake manifold gasket is leaking. They are famous for it around 80000 miles
The heater core or hoses to it are leaking inside your car
Radiator or hose but probably water pump
heater core possibly plugged and leaking
Your car shouldn't "burn" antifreeze. If it actually is "burning" antifreeze then chances are you have a blown/leaking head gasket or possibly a cracked engine block which allows antifreeze to enter the combustion chambers. If your antifreeze is just disappearing then it is probably leaking out from somewhere. Possible leak areas to check out would be the radiator hoses, heater hoses, radiator, water pump, and the heater core. Most of the time if the heater core is leaking you'll be able to smell the antifreeze inside the car while the engine is running and the heater is on.
your heater core is leaking i would replace it.
I would check the hoses leading into your radiator, and also the overflow for antifreeze. If that is not the problem, it could be your heater core. Your heater core might be leaking, you might have a hose leaking
leaking intake gasket. gm is notorious for them
Sounds like heater core is leaking and what you are seeing is antifreeze
Heater core leaking.
What other symptoms besides leaking antifreeze? Where do you see the anti-freeze leaking?
Failed water pump, hose, radiator, gasket, freeze plug,............
If you smell antifreeze in the passenger compartment of your car your heater core is probably leaking. It's under the dash somewhere ( depends on the make and model ). Another symptom of a leaking heater core is moisture build up on the inside of the windshield when you run your defroster.
If you have tried the raiator and the reservoir and hoses, you should have you intake gasket checked.
Did not clean surface properly or the biggest and most of the time it was not put in streight
Intake manifold gaskets are leaking, intake manifold is warped.
If it is motor oil in the anti freeze, then it is either a cracked head, cracked engine block, or a head gasket blown. If it is transmission fluid in your antifreeze, then the radiator is leaking from the transmission cooler ----- although usually that would cause antifreeze to be in your transmission fluid.
I can tell you with a fair amount of confidence that it is your water pump leaking. I am having the same thing happen on my 1997 Chevy z71. I have changed many water pumps for the same reason. If you are mechanically inclined I would go purchase a chilton manual at the local auto parts store where and when you get the pump. Be ready for a full day job and also buy antifreeze and gasket sealant.
