If you would be satisfied with a date within 10 years more or less, post all the markings exactly as they are written on the gun. If you need an exact date, go to the Savage Arms website and get the address of the Stevens Historian. If you send him $15 and the serial number, he may be able to tell you.
Newport guns were made by a variety of manufacturers for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. Known makers are Crescent, Davenport, Iver Johnson, and Stevens. Best bet for a 410 single would be Iver Johnson's Champion model.

Made by J Stevens Arms Company
I THINK you have a Stevens Model 83.
J. Stevens. Made the Little Pet single shot .410. I own A little Pet, and several J. Stevens pre model 94 thin frame single shot 410s and can confirm this as Fact. I also belive that the Little Pet name was used on shotguns made by J Stevens for Sears. This information I have gotten from several different sources and have yet to confirm, but belive to be Fact.
If it has both the Stevens and Savage names on it, then it was manufactured after 1945 and before 1969.
$25-$75, depending on condition. Stevens are well made rifles (and shotguns) but do not have a high degree of collector interest- their value is pretty much as a shooter.
Probably Savage/ Stevens/ Springfield
The Stevens model 9478 was made by Stevens between 1978-1985.
It probably does not have a serial number. Shotguns & 22s made before 1968 were mostly made without serial numbers. lcj
Made between World War I and World War II. No collector interest, value would be under $100. Have it checked thoroughly by a reputable gunsmith before shooting. firstname.lastname@example.org
With that form of the Stevens name, it was made between 1886 and 1915. Single shots are worth from $35 to $90, depending on condition.

The best that I can do,is say that the stevens arms company made the no.35 off-hand shotgun, which was a single shot handgun that was made from 1923-1935.
These were made from 1936-1971.
