If you are taking Amphetamine Salts will you test positive for Methamphetamine?

∙ 14y agoYes you will. Most drug test tests for any type of amphetamines, ex: methamphetamine, dextroamphetamine (also known as Adderall or amphetamine salts), l-amphetamines (ex: Vyvanse). If you have a valid prescription to amphetamine salts, you should be fine as long as you can show proof.

∙ 12y agoMany substances can be absorbed through the skin, it stands to reason that it is possible that Methamphetamine could also be absorbed through the skin, enter your system, and appear on a drug test. You may have to rub it in though.

∙ 11y agoIt depends. Did you smell fumes from smoked meth? Or did you try to smell unsmoked meth? If you felt any effects from smelling it you could test positive because that would indicated that you had taken in some of the drug. If any of the crystals made it into your nose without having been smoked you could also test positive. But methamphetamine only stays in the system for 4-5 days for a occasional user. Longer for an addict. But I wouldn't worry too much, you'll probably not have any left in your system by the time you read this answer.

Their chemical properties and structures are very distinct. Adderall (Amphetamine) is almost the same drug, chemically, as Crystal Meth (methamphetamine). Methamphetamine has an additional Carbon group (Chemists call this a methyl group, hence METHamphetamine) at the terminal amine group. As a pharmacist, I am positive that because of this structural similarity, it will show up on a drug test as amphetamine. I also know there is no difference on most drug tests between methamphetamine and amphetamine. They are almost the exact same drug, except for 2 Hydrogens and a Carbon. If you read the previous answer to this, please disregard. It was grossly incorrect.

All of these are amphetamine salts. ic amphetamine salts contain dextroamphetamine as well racemic amphetamine mixtures, which contain equal parts levo- and dextro- amphetamine. So the difference is that ic amphetamine salts (Adderall IR) contains ~75% dextoamphetamine and ~25% levoamphetamine.

(note: "racemic" means mix of both levo and dextro enantomers of the chemical moity. "dextro" means right 'handed', levo means left 'handed'. Important since some drugs have only a certain shape (levo or dextro) that are effective, and some a mix of both is most effective).
