Is there reasons your husband snaps at you when drinking about the life he is missing in going out or does he want to move on and feels you a holding him back with the kids?

- When a couple have children the mother of those children has a great maternal instinct (much more than the father of the children) and it's normal to a point. If all your attention is on the children and then you are too tired to go out and have some fun with your husband that is what is making him upset. Most mothers spend more time with their children than their husbands and some husbands either become jealous or can resent not having any romance; a sexual relationship that is missing in his marriage. He feels dejected; left out and wounded. There is no reason you cannot make an effort to have friends over or simply go out together for some fun; get a babysitter (your parents perhaps) and if you can't afford a babysitter then trade off with a girlfriend who has children. You and your husband should do something together at least once on a weekend without the children. You also need better communication skills. Sit down with your husband and tell him you understand. Ask him what is bothering him and listen calmly (don't place blame on him or let him totally blame you as you are not a mind reader) and then come to an amicable agreement that is fair for both of you. It is very important you spend quality time with your husband. At this point in time because he is verbally telling you what is wrong he is not on the verge of leaving you yet, but if this continues you may well lose him.

The question of divorce is entirely up to you; there are many reasons other than physical abuse. As for the drinking, an excellent resource for families of alcoholics is Al-Anon. Look for them online or in your local phone book and give them a call.
