Is wan larger than lan?
why the lan high speed than wan
Local Area Network (LAN)- A network in a small, localized area. Usually a house, small business, etc. Wide Area Network (WAN)- Same thing as a LAN, only larger.
LAN: Limited geographical area usually within the same building. WAN: Larger global Network with no physical boundaries.
WAN is cheaper than LAN. but also expensive and not to essay handle it.. Instant online Loans
WAN = wide area netrwork LAN = local area network
WAN. LAN is a short range connection, WAN is wide range.
WAN is Wide Area Network and LAN is Local Area Network. The main differences are: - WAN: far apart, connecting networks, slower speed - LAN: not further than 300-1000 m apart, connecting computers, higher speed
It isn't a question of suitability; it depends on where your clients are located. A LAN by necessity is a small geographic area. A WAN services clients over a wide area. So depending on the location of the client systems you may be using a LAN or a WAN.
LAN users get access to internet or can communicate with others LAN connected to WAN.
An LAN card is a must if you wish to connect to a LAN but it is not required for WAN
WAN communication speed, reliability, and connectivity are more challenging to manage than those of a LAN
WAN requires the same technology as LAN.
if the LAN is connected to another LAN over a wide distance using point to point links then it becomes part of the WAN (but it doesn't become a WAN by itself).
lans are more faster than wans
LAN - local area network WAN - wide area network
Extranet is wan
WAN- wide area network LAN- local area network
WAN usually costs more. Especially, there are recurring monthly costs, since you rent the services of an ISP. Note, however, that a LAN and a WAN serve different purposes; you can't simply replace a WAN with a LAN.
Local Area Network (LAN) is the connection of computers at one geographical location. Wide Area Netowrk (WAN) is the connection of computers at more than one geographical location.
From the user's point of view, accessing a LAN or WAN is the same. If packets need to be forwarded from a LAN via a WAN connection that is taken care of automatically by the router.
Of course it's WAN.
LAN stands for Local Area Network & WAN stands for Wide Area Network.
The main difference between LAN, MAN and WAN is the scope and coverage of the networks. LAN (Local area network) is usually used to connect computers in smaller distances such as in a building or in offices. They use various topologies such as bus topology, ring topology, star typology etc to connect the computers and share information only among the computers connected in LAN. A Metropolitan Network covers larger coverage than LAN and is usually… Read More
It all depends on perspective. If you look at it as a IP network, the difference is routers used in WAN. If you take in account DNS and other Internet services, the difference is more dramatic.
wan stands for wide area network lan stands for local area network
absolutely wan. lan is used for a office or a building complex
wan wireless right?
LAN is live active network such as ps3 lan
man - metropolitian area network lan - local area network wan - wide area network
ATM protocol is a WAN technology
WAN spans large geographical areas, when LAN is usually limited within one building.
PAN = Personal Area Network WAN = Wide Area Network LAN = Local Area Network
distance covered by lan
How might a distributed database designed for a local area network differ from one designed for a wide area network?
Data transfer on LAN is much faster than on WAN. Thus replication and fragmentation will not increase throughput and speedup on a LAN, as much as in a WAN. But even in a LAN, replication has its uses in increasing reliability and availability.
LAN is internal. IE, your computer, router, modem. WAN is external, such as your computer, a server on the internet, a corporate database. Not to be confused with WLAN, which is wireless LAN
What is the purpose of creating a sub-net within a larger network such as LAN that comprises a piece of WAN?
Security. People on the larger network can't see the smaller subnet, good for departments like Research.
The other difference between LAN and WAN, is the speed of the network. The maximum speed of a LAN can be 1000 megabits per second, while the speed of a WAN can go up to 150 megabits per second. This means the speed of a WAN, is one-tenth of the speed of a LAN. A WAN is usually slower because it has lower bandwidth. Computers in a LAN can share a printer, if they are… Read More

speed and used technologies defines LAN & WAN
LAN can be connected by routers . A router can be used to connect to LAN's .a LAN to a WAN and LAN to Internet.
There r two main differences between LAN & WAN: 1) network having fast speed at least 10 mbps is called lan while wan has slow speed as 64 kbps. 2) wan connects two lan far apart to each other using wan technologies such as leased lines, internet, frame relay, etc. while lan connects two systems/lans near to each other through ethernet/fast ethernet/gigabit ethernet.
WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is usually used to refer to the Internet. The Internet is a WAN because it is a massive network covering more than one area, which means it's not a Local Area Network (LAN). AND YOUR MOM

Hi, According to my view, LAN is generally the network of all the computers connected to one router, while WAN is the network of all the computers connected to routers and switches, just more than one router. You will get more information from Wanos.co. Thank you
by man im assuming you mean a node/client. Lan is intranet wan is internet. on the lan the node has a ip that it talks to other nodes with, on wan your computer's ip talks to your modem which talks to the internet with the modems IP. Hope that helped.
a. A dormitory floor - A LAN. b. A university campus - A LAN, possible a WAN for very large campuses. c. A state - A WAN. d. A nation - A WAN.
Well, both of these words rhyme, but they do have a difference. "LAN" begins with "L" and "WAN" begins with "W". This is the only difference between these two things.
Lan usually has higher data-transfer rates and smaller geographic area. While Wan is a computer network that includes everything.
It depends on the media, topology of the networks. You could go from 10 Mbps on a LAN to 50 or more Gbps on a WAN depending on the technology.
The most basic difference is that in a LAN, most of the computers could be, or will be, hard wired to the routers and switches of the network, whereas in a WAN some computers will use wireless transmissions. In other words, a LAN is in ONE building, a WAN in multiple, sometimes far apart geographically, buildings. Transmission speeds across the typical WAN are also much much slower than on a wired LAN network.
