It depends on where you come from. Most English academies regularly implement height restrictions especially for goalkeepers and defenders. Technically though, no it doesn't make you a better player. Although tall players can have better strength and speed, this is only a general rule. Look at Lionel Messi, Macherano and Aaron Lennon, all small players but all more than capable of playing with players much taller than them. However, if you want to get scouted then yes, height is a major advantage unfortunately.
