Jesus performed miracles all the time! He healed people of their sickness and also turned water into wine! He also performes miracles in our lives if we believe in him and trust in him.

According to Luke 4 & 5, Jesus first performed his miracles before he called the Apostles.

According to John, Jesus first performed his miracle after he called the Apostles who then went with him to Cana to transform water to wine.

In John's Gospel, Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine on the third day after his baptism. In the synoptic gospels, Jesus went into the wilderness immediately after his baptism, so was not at the wedding in Cana. In these gospels, his first miracle was to fast for forty days and resist the devil. In both cases, Jesus performed his first miracle quite soon after his baptism, which Luke's Gospel places at about 29 CE.

The miracle of turning water into wine, in John chapter 2, is usually considered the first miracle Jesus performed. This occurred "on the third day" after the baptism of Jesus, but in the synoptic gospels, Jesus had begun his forty days in the wilderness at this time, so could not have been at a wedding in Cana.

The (anonymous) author of John's Gospel liked to ascribe to Jesus miracles similar to those attributed to the pagan gods. Just as the god Dionysus turned water into wine, so Jesus turned water into wine. Later in the same gospel, we are told of Jesus healing the lame man at the five-sided pool, now known to have been part of an Asclepium. a temple to the Greek god Asclepius. When Asclepius (John's "angel") came by and disturbed the water, the first to enter would be cured, but the lame man was never able to reach the water first. Thus, the gospel miracle of turning the water into wine was a demonstration that Jesus could perform the same miracles as the Greek gods could.

Answer:

The real meaning of this miracle is when self realization happen the soul and body separate each other like in marriage of husband and wife ( they are separate identity like soul and body). Here they use wine because wine is used for joy same as self realization gives you joy which increase by more practice and reach level like hard liquor and after that level like modern drug, means extremely high that is from my own experience.

The first miracle Jesus performed was turning water into wine at a wedding He attended in the land of Cana in Galilee.

One view

Since the question is not limited to the mortal ministry or even the mortal life of Jesus, we may therefore look to the pre-mortal miracles performed by Jesus. Prior to his mortal life Jesus was known as Jehovah. The very first miracle that we have record of is his creation of the earth.

However, if the question is to be construed as to the first mortal miracle Jesus performed then the conversion of water to wine was the first miracle performed during his mortal ministry.

If the question is to be construed as to the first miracle Jesus performed as Christ, then this means we must look to miracles after Jesus' resurrection. It was not until after his resurrection that Jesus became the Christ. The first miracle performed after the resurrection is debatable; it could be his appearance to Mary in the garden, his appearance to the apostles, or his ascension into heaven.

Another view

Jesus' first miracle is turning water into wine. This is explained in John 2:1-11 which says that on the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine." "Dear woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied, "My time has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.

Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."

This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

Mark 1:12: "And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness." Here Jesus fasted for forty days, tempted by Satan and ministered by angels. The forty days of fasting is often regarded as a miracle, although a fast is not always total abstinence from food. Otherwise, the first miracle that Jesus performed after his baptism was to drive out the unclean spirit (Mark 1:23-26).

In John's Gospel, there is no account of Jesus going into the wilderness. After his baptism, (John 2:1): "And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there." It was here that Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine.

His exact age is not known, but some believe He was around the age of 30 assuming He began His ministry straight after His baptism at about that age (Luke 3:23).

What were the first words of Jesus in the Bible?

That depends on whether you believe that Jesus appeared in the Old Testament or not. If you do, Jesus first recorded words are "Let there be light." If you do not believe in Jesus in Old Testament, His first recorded words were in Luke 2:49, " Why are you looking for me? Don't you know I must do my Father's will."

Was Jesus of the New Testament only a copy of Joseph of the Old Testament?

Not at all. There are so many obvious major differences. Jesus was first born son while Joseph had many brother and sisters before him. Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt when a young man and lived there the rest of his life. Jesus only visited Egypt for a period while there was concern for his safety due to Herod. Jesus was never in any earthly position of political authority whereas Joseph was second in charge in Egypt for a considerable period. Jesus was a teacher and miracle-working Son of God. Joseph never taught nor performed miracles and certainly was not divine.
