Then their insurance cuts you a check for the Bluebook value of your car. Also, some of them also offer rental coverage until the car is replaced (but obviously not for several weeks)

What do you do if you have an accident with a lapsed insurance and the vehicle is totaled?

You pay for the damages out of your pocket. Answer How lapsed? There is a grace period with insurance companies. Call your agent. If it's been more than 2-3 weeks my guess is you are out of luck.

My car is being damaged by a squirrel while parked in my rental parking space. Has happened twice in 2 weeks and has cost me over 300.00 dollars each time. Isn't my landlord responsible for damages?

Is the parking space a rental parking space, or is it the parking space for your rental apartment/home? In the case of the former, you have the right to ask your landlord for a different parking space, especially if you're the one paying its rental. In the case of the latter, unless that parking space is assigned to you -- that which you may ask to change -- then you need to park somewhere else. But in neither case is the landlord responsible for any damages that occur to your vehicle. Your car insurance or renters insurance should take care of that problem, save any deductibles

The driver of a rented Uhaul hits a parked car and leaves a not but the other driver does not call until two weeks later what can be done?

There are two ways to deal with this: 1. If the renter of the Uhaul purchased collision and liability insurance at the time of rental, then he needs to file a claim with Uhaul. Their insurance company will take care of it. 2. If the renter did NOT purchase Uhaul's insurance, then the driver is responsible and his personal collision insurance should take care of you. If the driver has no insurance, your other option is to take them to civil court or small claims court to recoup the cost of the damages.

Can you drive a vehicle you buy from a personal seller if you only have the title to the car?

Yes. Depending on what state you reside in. The title will have a place where the seller will write in the date of sale. If you get caught driving the car on that same date, no cop in the world would think of citing you. However if you drive that car for several weeks without registering/titling it... Wearing handcuffs and having your new vehicle impounded. Also make sure you add that car to your insurance policy before you drive it anywhere. Driving a unregistered vehicle with no insurance is a recipe for disaster - don't do it.
