A report from the National Center for Education Statistics shows Louisiana's 8.3% public high school dropout rate is the second- highest in the nation. Louisiana had 16,361 dropouts from a total of 196,040 students. The report was the result of a study of 45 states. Arizona had the worst rate of 10.9%. North Dakota reported the lowest dropout rate at 2.2%.
