You need a Basketball, a pair of basketball sneakers, and a pair of shorts. and a place to play.

I cannot emphasize the importance of proper sneakers when playing basketball, it is really easy to hurt your ankles without them.

Generally though, basketball is one of the cheapest sports to play .

The equipment needed to play basketball are a basketball, first off, and a hoop (generally the ones found inside school gyms). Those are the only materials needed. Some materials that can be used, however, include jerseys and shorts, a gym, and lines on the ground that pinpoint the three point line, free throw line, etc. There are a wide variety of costs for how much of this you decide to purchase.

Depends on how cold you can get it. Most materials get more brittle when they get colder, and this also applies to a basketball. However, putting them in a freezer won't be enough for anything to really happen. But if you have access to liquid nitrogen, then a basket ball can be cooled to the point where it will shatter if dropped.
