A lot cheaper than now!

The prices only seem cheaper to us, because we pay so mush more. But it is all relative, wages were less than now and housing was cheaper too. so if you apply all that then the grocery prices fit in

First of all why would you care about the price of milk in 1962. That is very random. But I'm assuming its a school assignment! Tell your teacher I had the same assignment, i hated it! Honestly how is finding the price of milk in 1962 rel event to anything that will be useful in life what so ever. Tell your teacher i think its the dumbest idea of a project ever! But since you asked in 1957 the gas price was 1.00$ and 5 years later the gas price was have no idea! Still trying to find out because I'm doing the project right now!

Is it true that gas prices rise with grocery prices?

No, grocery prices rise with gas prices. This is because gasoline is used to transport grocery products to the stores from where they are grown or manufactured. If gas prices go up, then the cost of the grocery products to the store owner will go up and eventually the price the store charges will have to go up.
