∙ 12y agoMost complex organisms obtain energy through cellular respiration which is the process of turning molecules of sugar(glucose) into a compound called ATP or adenosine triphosphate. ATP is a molecule with three phosphates and during cellular respiration ADP which is a molecule with two phosphates is given another to become ATP. Since energy is stored in molecular bonds ATP has more energy than ADP because it has more molecules which means more bonds. ATP is used to carry on most metabolic processes
