Good luck w this issue. We have the same problem. The BMW techs are not savvy on the smg. I am pulling the trany to replace the bad sensor my self.
check your cam positioning sensor
Put shifter in park or neutral.
Yours apparently works the same was as mine. Mine has to be in neutral to restart it. You would think you could pull in the clutch and restart from there but mine wont. So i guess yes.
You can restart the transmission computer, on your 1996 Ford, by removing the transmission, computer fuse. Keep the fuse out for 10 seconds and replace it to its original slot.
if a 4 speed transmission locking torque converter may be stuck, unplug the wire at the transmission to check, could also be the crank shaft sensor
sounds like he transmission is slipping. bad synchronizers.
my 350 did that and it was the oxygen sensor........good luck !
check your coil
You need to replace your clutch.
The PO1870 code is a transmission slip condition. This may be related to any number of transmission components, but can lead to major failure if left addressed. The condition of stalling is likely not related to PO1870 code, as a separate condition.
When we have this problem, we turn the ignition off and shift into neutral, restart the engine and it can then be shifted into drive or reverse.
IDK yup
