My dog is ill and she shakes in her sleep what could be wrong?
I would take the dog to a vet. They can tell you what is wrong and how to help. My dog shakes in her sleep but she is just dreaming. Probably chasing rabbits. Or maybe being chased by rabbits.
It is possible that a sleep aid could hurt your dog. If you dog has any unknown medical conditions, the sleep aid could harm it. The best option is to speak with the vet and find out if they would allow your dog to have a sleep aid so that you could clean his ears. They may recommend a different medication.
This would actually consist of many things, it could be for several reasons. But as a dog owner my self, i tend to see it as somthing is scaring him. Or there is somthing which he feels, unsafe. Try keeping an eye on everybody's positions at the time of the dogs behavour, it might give answers, but may not.
It could be part of a dream, or it could be simple incontinence--just as when elderly humans or babies urinate during sleep. They sell male and female diapers, which you can put on your dog overnight if need be, but really your dog needs to see a vet so you can start figuring out if the problem is physical or psychological and how to treat it best.
