The name was Nicholas II Romanov.
Czar Nicholas II was the ruler at the beginning of World War 1. Then he was overthrown in the February Revolution and the Provisional Government took over. Prince Georgy Lvov was head for three months then Alexander Kerensky took over. In the October Revolution that same year the Provisional Government was overthrown by Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks and they became the rulers.

Nicholas II was czar of Russia during the War. However, after the stir that the Russian Revolution caused, the Duma forced him to step down in March of 1917. He was eventually killed in July of 1918 along with the rest of his family. It was the next ruler, communist dictator V.I Lenin that ended Russia's involvement in WW1 with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk which was humilitiating but at least ended the fighting.
