∙ 14y agoComets are celestial bodies like planets revolving around the Sun. But their revolving paths are very different. And they appear once in a life time. They seem to be independent of our celestial theories to go round and round outside the solar system and come back with lots of primitive life forms to implant on our Earth.

∙ 14y agoMost comets orbit the Sun. Perhaps you mean what is the name of one of these comets, if so Halley's Comet or Comet Halley (officially designated 1P/Halley) is the most famous of the periodic comets which comes near the Sun every 75-76 years.

How are comets different?
-- Despite where they come from, some comets have different mass qualities. While some are long-term comets, some are short-term. Short-term period comets originate in the Kuiper belt or it's "shattered disc", which is around the orbit of Neptune. Long-term period comets originate in Oort cloud, which is a cloud of icy bodies in space.
