the assassination of archduke Ferdinand was partially the reason World War 1 was started. so that makes him kinda important. Kaiser Wilhelm II was also important since he was the ruler of Germany at the time of the war.

WW1 was very confusing. I can tell you how it started. There was a dispute between Bosnia and Austria-Hungary.Bosnia had been overruled by the Austo-Hungarians. Bosnia threatened Austria-Hungary with the black hand, the bosnian mafia. 7 of it's members plotted to kill the heir to the austrain throne, Archduke Franz Fredinand.

Ferdinand visited the Bosnian capital, and waited to kil him. 6 of the members failed in their attempts to kill him but the 7th shot Franz dead.Austria declared war on Serbia (where a lot of bosnian's were from). Then Russia declared war on Austria, Germany delared war on Russia, France declared war on Germany, Germany invaded Belgium, so Britain declared war on Germany. America, Turkey,and Australia joined the war later.
