Best Answer

when changing the oil on a new car I typically change it when the car has 1000-1500mi on it since the new engine is breaking in. the reason is you typically get small amounts of metal in the oil since the new engine is breaking in and the parts are bonding together

Getting an Oil Change?

When your car needs an oil change, there are a number of things you need to take into consideration. While every car needs an oil change after a certain amount of miles or months, exactly how you can accomplish that oil change is dictated by the type of car you have. For example, if you have a used car that is not under warranty, you can change the oil yourself or have it changed by anyone that you want. However, if you have a new car that is under warranty, you may find that you aren't allowed to do that. Some car warranties may require you to take your car into a certified oil change center to change the old oil without voiding your warranty.

Make sure your bolt that hold your oil in your oil sump is still there. Change your oil after 6000 kilometers. If your oil is still fairly clear your good.

When should have your first oil change?

You should change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles if you drive it hard or at least every three months. Your first oil change should follow the general rule but really unless you have driven it really hard, which you shouldn't do to a new car, changing the oil at 5,000 miles would not hurt your car.

Why is my oil light in my 1994 Toyota corolla still flashing when the oil in the car is fine and not leaking?

It probably needs to be reset after the oil change. New vehicles use the oil light to let you know you need to change the oil, but they need to be reset at the time of the change.
