On a 1979 Honda CB750k Limited Edition I give it a little throttle and there is a 1 to 3 second lag before the engine kicks in do you know why and what should I do to fix the problem?

the bike may run to rich try reducing the full intake on carburetor

You should not have to use a sealer. Be sure to clean all the contact surfaces very throughly and do not overtighten the cover bolt.

750 DOHC motors use .024" to .028" (0.6 - 0.7 mm) through 1984. My son had put "out of the box" NGKs in it that I found to be gapped at .031", and bike was running fine.
