The Starter is located on the bottom of the engine and is easily accessible by jacking the front end of the car off the ground. Be sure to use jackstands and disconnect the battery if you intend on poking around with it.

If the car is a manual transmission, you can push start it. Turn on the ignition, put the car in neutral, and have someone push you to about 5 mph. Shift the car into 2nd gear and pop the clutch. This should get the car going to the nearest auto parts store where you can get a new battery. Since it isn't mauel try looking at the fuses located in the floor of the passenger side, one maybe old or just maybe loose, its worth a try that's what was wrong with mine. and it's automatic
chances are its a k. i have a 84 and it is a jetronic which from what ive read was the first year for the jetronic. it says it on the ecm at the passenger side kick panel
it's underneath the car, like Porsche 928s and Lincoln LS models. the more you pay for a car these days, the less they let users service them. go figger... anyway, take it anywhere but a Cadillac dealer to have it done, as they don't squat about cateras (since they're basically German cars). also, go to or better yet 'join' cadillacforums.com and specifically go to the catera/cimarron area for everything catera under the sun. hope this helps some.
When you open the door to get into the car, you will see a knob just behind the parking brake lever. Just pull it straight up and the rear hatch lock will release.
Check out "Renegade Hybrids" in Las Vegas. They sell adapter kits and also do custom installations of small block 350 Chevys into all models of Porsches... 911s, 914s, 944s, and 928s. I don't know if they make a kit for swapping a 350 into a 500SL Mercedes, but they are the experts on putting American V8s into German coachwork. Call 'em up. They might know someone who does the conversion. I have a 450 SL that I put a Chevy engine into. There is no kit that I know of. I made all the parts to make it fit with all G.M. parts and a Chevy trany. It's not a job for just anyone. The car drives and runs like it should, but with a lot more power and better fuel mileage. If anyone wants I can give Pics of the work done and help with advise.
