Make sure the battery cable connectors are clean and tight, bad connections can keep the alternator from charging the battery. also be sure that the belt tensionor is set right if it is bad replace it. You may have an electrical problem, Check all your fuses. If you have a short or an "open" wire touching the body or any other metal area it could slowly drain your battery as well. Had a similar problem(s)...and these were the two answers. a) The trunk light has a Mercury switch and when it malfunctions, the light stays on, in the morning the battery would be dead. The switch is attached to the trunk lid opening cables (looks like a black cylinder. It may need to be repositioned ( so the light turns off )or replaced if malfunctioning. b) You may have to take your vehicle out on the highway for an hour in order to give the battery a good charge. City driving does not cut it.

The problem is probably the alternator. If the alternator fails to keep the battery charged the battery will keep the car running until it can no longer supply voltage to essential systems and the car will stall.

If the alternator fails, it is no longer keeping the battery charged and your engine is running on nothing but battery power. Once the battery runs down, your engine will no longer run.

Battery light stays on in your Chevy silverado 2005?

test the voltage on the battery first, then on the alternator. If its good then it could just be the diode in the alternator. I would suggest you replace it becuase eventually your alternator will die and the battery will not get charged leaving you stranded somewhere. It is possible to just be a battery but you wont know unless you have the battery tested. check the voltage on the battery and the alternator before you do anything else.

Why would the battery die when both the battery and the alternator is new?

Alternator not working properly or not connected properly. Wherever you bought the alternator take it back and have them check to make sure it works properly. Also make sure the new battery was fully charged when you received it. HTH.

Why won't your 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera stay running and drains battery when you put it in gear?

I would suspect a bad alternator and battery, have them both checked at the parts store. A car with a fully charged battery and a bad alternator will run until the battery is drained and then quit.

What would make the Battery light come on after changing the alternator and checking the battery in a 92 Chevy c1500?

Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery.

Can a weak battery cause the alternator to make a loud whining noise?

I would say probably not, the reason your battery is weak is I reckon due to a fault with your alternator. It is obviously not producing sufficient power (electricity ) to keep the battery charged. The whining noise is probably caused by worn-out bearings. A replacement or re-conditioned alternator should cure the problem .

Why would a car not start with a fully charged battery and good alternator and starter?

bad solenoid...will usually click up a storm when you turn on the ignition.

Why would battery light go on in a 2005 caravan while driving?

What would cause a 1994 sunbird to sound as if it would stall out upon coming to a stop?

It sounds like it could be an alternator problem, the easiest way to determine this is to disconect the battery while it is running, if it stalls, or bogs out, replace the alternator. ( but it could just be faulty wire conections. ) hope this helps.

usualy if the alternator is not defective then its the battery. you should start by cleaning the battery post. then you could check the terminal wire that runs from the battery post to the alternator. if thats not it you should check the ground on the alternator.
