On a 90 Pontiac lemans check engine light flashes on and off while driving down the road and engine cuts out at same time seems to be worse when you slow down can anyone help?
on the positive battery terminal there should be an orange wire attached, double check and make sure there isn't a short in that wire, i had the same trouble and it turned out to be that wire had a short in it, once i fixed it every thing was normal again
My 1999 Pontiac Montana would seem to "skip a beat" while driving. It then started stalling and restarting, all while driving at highway speeds. My mechanic found that an electrical cable that carried an engine sensor signal was leaning against a hot part of the engine. The cable insulation had melted or worn through, causing intermittent shorts. The shorts confused the engine computer, which then stalled the engine. He simply rerouted the cable and all…
If check engine is on while driving but not flashing the computer of the car is sending out a code you probably have an emission problem count the flashes this will give you a code. a short pause between the flashes is the second or third, forth, etc of the code. after a long pause it will either repeat the code or give u another.
What else can be wrong if your engine light is blinking if its not the cluster or the speed sensor could it be the alternator your car died on the road a couple times Can anyone help you out?
a check engine light that flashes while driving has nothing to do with the speed sensor or alternator a flashing engine light shows that there is problem that is causing catylitic conver damage for instance if you had a bad spark plug or spark plug wire that was causing a missfire then the light will flash there is no other reason for the light to flash
The check engine or service engine soon light comes on to alert you that there is or was a problem with the emissions system on your vehicle. If the light comes on steady and stays on, it means that there is a problem and you should have it checked out soon. If it comes on and flashes, it means you will cause damage if you continue driving.
Does anyone know If its possible to put a Pontiac 455 in a 1969 Pontiac lemans and still keep your factory air conditioning without cutting into your body?
You have no oil pressure and are doing permanent damage to the engine internals which will result in overheating and the engine will stop running, maybe seize maybe break, might even catch fire. If the check engine light flashes while your driving and you continue to drive it, you will probably cause serious damage to the catalytic converter which will cost $$$ to replace.
This question all depends on which Warning light you are refering to. The Check engine symbol indicates when a system servuce us required. The symbol lights up when the ignition is switched on and goes out shortly after the engine starts to run. If the symbol lights up when driving serivce to the engine management system may be required, the car is still drivable but must be service asap to prevent engine damage. Note if…
Turn the ignition key on,off,on,off then on and count the the flashes of the check engine symbol .It flashes the first number then there is a short pause then it flashes the second number. Example 24 ( two flashes and a pause then four flashes). Look up this number in Chilton's/Haynes or the shop manual for the vehicle
Why does the four wheel drive light sometimes flash on and off while driving in a 1996 Ford Aerostar?
Mine does it, too. The flashes are a series, decodable just like the self-diagnostic codes from the Check Engine light: a series of flashes, a pause, and then a second series of flashes, a longer pause, repeat. I have been unable to findany information as to what the codes are or mean. However, usually it means that the AWD computer is not receiving a signal from one or more of the wheel sensors. Check the…
What to do when Malfunction Indicator light stays on at idle and flashes when driving on a 2002 jeep grand Cherokee?
That is commonly known as the "Check Engine" light. The light is on because the vehicle's on board diagnostics as detected a problem. Have a trusted mechanic take a look at it soon. If the "Check Engine" light ever flashes while you're driving, stop the car when it is safe to do so and shut off the engine immediately. If you continue to drive the car with that light flashing you risk doing serious expensive…
