Sounds like one to me. Instructions to replace: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/13/fb/83/0900823d8013fb83.jsp If you have a defective brake light switch, it will not allow you to shift if in an automatic car. As you know, you have to depress the brake to put the car in gear; with this broken your car does not know you are pressing the brake and doesn't send the signal to the interlock shifter system. Hope that helps and good luck!

2003 Escape when going uphill or with the slightest load the transmission seems to chug Turning off the OD helps slightly The Transmission was just rebuilt last year?

The problem is probably not the transmission. This same symptom represents a problem with a miss firing ignition system. Since the six cylinder Escape has one coil per cylinder, when the coil(s) misfire, they cause the engine to chug. You can take it to a shop to read the codes from the OBD II diagnostic connector. It will likely identify a misfiring cylinder. Replace the coil on that cylinder and probably the spark plug. This will likely cure your chugging problem. The OBD II readout will confirm if this is the problem.

If a 1994 Camry 4 cylinder with automatic is stuck in second gear how do you fix it?

Why won't your 1991 ford probe go into any gear when it has not shown any signs of a problem?

It is most likely a clutch problem, assuming this is a manual transmission. If you are lucky, it is a leaky clutch slave cylinder and you can top up the fluid in the reservoir (usually located near the back of the engine on the firewall and smaller than the brake master cylinder reservoir). Probably uses brake fluid but check your owner's manual. If you are unlucky you need a new slave cylinder or clutch or both. If you are really unlucky, the transmission is shot.

You cant get the clutch bled after you replaced the slave cylinder on a 1994 ranger it wont bled still has air in it?

this can be a problem, first you have to press the pedal about an inch do this several times, wait about an hour do it again.....if this doesn't work,it has to be power bled. you transmission shop can do it for you..... I had the same problem. The problem is the cylinder slants down toward the front and that is where the reservior and line connect. There is no good way to get all the air out while mounted to the firewall. Solution: unbolt from firewall with lines and reservoir attached. Tip the cylinder up in the front and use a vacuum bleeder at the slave cylinder.

What causes a car to jerk when taking off?

jerking when accelerating is a transmission problem. Well, i am pretty sure it is. It could be other things but the transmission is where you should start. could be an ignition problem, if it is shuttering at low rpm. Mine does this and i have a cylinder 2 misfire. This could be plugs and wires or, getting more expensive, coil pack or distributer problems.
