Where is the brake switch on 2000 dodge caravan?
There is a brake switch under the dash immediately in front of the brake pedal arm. It has a little button on it that is depressed when the brake is off, but when you press on the brake pedal, the button comes out and the brake lights come on. I'm still trying to get mine out, so if anyone figures out how to do that, I'd like to know. :)

You have turn signals running lights but no brake lights in a 1999 gmc suburban?
More than likely, you need to replace the stoplight switch. It is not a diificult change. Look under the dash directly where the brake pedal comes in contact with the dash when it is not depressed. Press the brake and notice the little contact nipple that pops out. That is the stoplight switch. Replace that, and you are good to go!!!

Where is brake light switch on a 1986 Cutlass?
There should be a bracket mounted on the steering column near the floor. This will have a switch in it that is a plunger type. When the shaft of the brake pedal is depressed, it comes into contact with this plunger and activates the brake light circuit. If you "ride the brakes", your brake lights will always be on because of the minimal pressure required to activate this circuit.

Brake pedal turns on dash lights when depressed on a hyndai accent?
Have you upgraded any lights to LEDs? This answer can apply to any car with this problem but only if LED lights are used. This can be caused by LED 1157 tail/brake combo lights. The problem is that the tail and brake lights are not always as isolated as they should be. When the brake lights are powered on the tail light terminal becomes live. This voltage will power up the park light circuit ie. tail lights, front park lights and instrument panel. The "short" comes after the LED resistors in the 1157 therefore the leaked current is low and will not usually cause any problems unless you have LED's throughout the park light circuit, there is insufficient current to turn on standard light bulbs. Solution is a diode fitted in line on the tail light wires to the 1157s allowing current into the 1157 but not out.

What would cause brake lights to stay illuminated?
this happened to me on my 98 Honda accord and it was because my brake lights and sinal lights were not working properly Most likely, the brake light switch is stuck. Have you checked your brake fluid level? You could be dangerously low. If you mean that your exterior brake lights stay on even when you aren't pressing on the brake pedal, you most likely have a bad brake light switch. If you follow your brake pedal arm up under the dash, you should see a switch that comes in contact with the arm. It might have been knocked out of position and all you need to do is put it back. If it is in its correct position, it is probably bad and will need to be replaced. It works like this...when you press on the brake pedal, the arm moves away from the switch, thus turning on your brake lights. When you release your foot from the brake pedal, it contacts the switch and your brake lights turn off.

How do you wire a towbar to a 2001 vw beetle?
The tow bar comes with a color coded wiring harness. The tail lights, blinkers, and brake lights are hooked up to a terminal near the trailer hitch of the towing vehicle and then the tow lights are plugged into the socket for the car lights. There are four wires. The brown is the brake lights, the green and black are blinker lights, and the white wire is the ground wire.
Why would your brake lights stay on all the time?
The most common cause for your brake lights staying on is the switch in the foot brake pedal. If it comes loose or is broken. Check the brake pedal assembly, if it has come off it will be hanging about by it's wires or may just be loose. It's a normally closed switch which means it works the opposite way round to a normal switch. IE. ON when not operated and OFF when operated. The brake pedal normally sits against the switch which keeps the circuit open and hence the lights are off. When you press the brake pedal, the switch is released, circuit is closed and the brake lights come on.
