on both cogs on cam and crank there will be a stamped dot. you need to align these with each other during installation
sounds like an electrical problem, try replacing the cam position sensorand check the coils
No, timing is not adjustable. If timing is not correct a part has failed.
It is located on the timing chain cover.
timing belt has nothing to do with transmission so it is possoble for you to have a timing belt it may be a timing chain also the purpose of the belt or chain is to keep the crank shaft turning in time with the cam shafts yes, the timing belt is independent of the transmission.
it sounds like you have the cam timing and crank timing off by one tooth. you will need to open it up and do it again
There should be timing marks on the pulley & you simply align them. Crank at 12/cam at 6.
you just do what mark on the crank is TDC
how to get the timing gears off the crank and cam shaft
there are marks on the timing cover that remains attached to the block and there are arrows on the cams. there is a pointer down by gear on crank and a dimple on gear align these marks
12 o'clock
I have a 96 ford ranger 2.3. On the crank timing, does the mark on the plastic cover TC mean top dead center?
When you are trying to align the timing marks on a Holden Rodeo 2.6, just get the crank and cam marks aligned, no need to worry about the others. Make sure the belt is tight on the right side between the cam and crank sprockets when they are on their marks. After that simply apply the tensioner.
Align the dot on pulley with the one on the crank pulley.
Timing is done by Engine computer with imfo from cam and crank sensor . It is not adjustable. If you are replacing timing belt, a Gates timing belt comes with detailed instructions of belt and pulley timing marks. New belt has marks on it that correspond with cam shaft pulleys and crank pulley.
No 1 should be at TDC, balancer should be at zero, Gear/pulley marks should be aligned both cam & crank, distributor should have rotor ready to fire #1.
On the bottom crank there is a mark that needs lined up with the triangle sitting at 12 o'clock. The top crank has two lines on it that should be sitting at 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock. Hope this helps.
align the cams to the E & I marks on cam. You will see notches right beside them. Align the crank with key way up.
