On your 96 Cavalier it stalls after being driven for a while and it doesn't over heat it starts up afterwards but does it shortly after mechanics can't find anything wrong does anyone have an answer?

Your problem may be the CKP or Crankshaft Position Sensor. It provides a signal through the ignition module which the PCM uses as a reference to calculate rpm and crankshaft positon. If it is intermittent, the PCM doesn't know just when to fire the plugs and so the car will stop like you hit it in the head with a hammer. Then, re-starting will reset the sensor and it will work fine till it malfunctions again. It is usually located on the back of the engine near the oil filter. It will usually give a trouble code so if you take the car to someone who has a Code Reader, you can tell the problem. Hope this helps...
