Outside diameter of a Mossberg 12 gage shotgun barrel?
The road block shotgun you may be referring to is the Mossberg 500 "Road Blocker". It's a tactical use Mossberg released in 2009. Google "Mossberg Road Blocker".
The outside dimension of a barrel is simply the diameter. The traditional inside measurement of a rifled barrel is caliber and the traditional inside measurement of a smoothbore (shotgun) barrel is gauge. Strictly speaking, smoothbore gauges are not diameters. Gauge number is the number of round balls fitting the bore that can be made from a pound of lead.
No. A choke tube slips into and screws to the muzzle end of the barrel. It can only decrease the inside diameter.
Your question can't be answered as written. What Model? What are ALL the markings? What gauge? How long is the barrel? What type of finish? Mossberg 500C, 20 gauge, 26" accu-choke, serial number K064007, checkered wood stock, blued barrel, vented rib barrel.
your western field model 550cd was made by mossberg, there model number is 500B.I would try numrich gun parts corp.for your barrel, and use the mossberg 500B number for parts identification.
A Mossberg 410, home defense, or a 18 inch barrel 20 gauge Mossberg 500 youth model with accu choke . Between $250.00, and $350.00
Yes, a bullet must be the same diameter as the barrel (unless it is a shotgun).
A double barrel shotgun Disagree. I think a 12 gauge pump in Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 with an 18-inch barrel, no choke or cylinder is a very scary gun for the home with #4 buck shot. lcj
yes, shotgun and barrel length.not a pistol, and shotguns are not considered assault weapons.
The Mossberg models G-4,70,73,and 73B were made from 1932-1940.Your model 70 shotgun was made from 1932-1933.
You will need to provide a DETAILED descripton of ALL markings, gauge, barrel length, forearm, butt stock, etc..
Wondering if you can shoot a 200 and 50 grain rifle tip slug through your mossberg 500 will it damage your barrel it has the accu chock?
NEVER FIRE AMMUNITON IN A WEAPON NOT DESINGED FOR IT!!!!!!!!! In a shotgun, you fire shotgun slugs or shotshells, NOT rifle projectiles (unless using a sabot) In the case of a sabot, you MUST contact the Mossberg.
as far as i know yes, i have seen both receiver ends of both barrels and they are almost identical
Bore is the number of lead spheres the diameter of the barrel it would take to equal one pound. Ergo, the larger the bore, the smaller the barrel.
What company makes a western field 410 shotgun that is bolt action and what is the location of the company?
The Western Field shotgun was sold by Montgomery Ward and made by Mossberg. Made around 1964. I inherited one that is in mint condition and still fires. It is a 410 single barrel 150c shotgun.
Mossberg! Answer Several different companies made 12 gauge pumps for Western Field. You must provide the model number, which should be stamped on the barrel or receiver of the shotgun. G072293
Nominally the inside diameter is about 0.72 inches, but will vary depending on choke.
Western Field was the house brand for Montgomery Wards. This shotgun was subcontracted to various manufacturers. Main one was Mossberg. I have one and it's a Mossberg 500. Recommend you contact either Numrich or Brownell's, both of whom have web sites. Both are major suppliers of gun parts and gunsmithing tools.
The Western Field 550 series were produced by Mossberg for Montgomery Ward. Basically it's a Mossberg 500 and as far as my research and experience with them goes (I own a 550AB in 12 GA and a 550ED in 410 GA), all parts are interchangeable though I've only ever put a Mossberg barrel on my Western Field.
Yes, the Mossberg?æ500 20 gauge ammunition can be used in the Mossberg .410 model. To find out if ammunition will fit, the Mossberg company stamps the size needed on the side of the barrel.
Mossberg makes an 18.5" personal defense/home defense/slug barrel for the 500 .410. The cost is approx $75 delivered via fedex. You should contact Mossberg directly to place the order. It's cheaper than Brownell's, Midway USA, Bass Pro Shops, etc. They get them from Mossberg to sell to you at a higher price. A NOTE OF CAUTION: Mossberg does NOT, repeat NOT recommend using slugs through the standard full-choke barrel. Using slugs in this barrel could… Read More
Yes, you can....but the chamber on the 500 barrel is only bored for 3" max shells. You won't be able to fire 3.5" shells through the 500 barrel.
If you are talking about the 50 caliber muzzle loader barrel for the Mossberg 12 gauge Shotgun model 500 or the Maverick 88 - you can't remove the breech plug. You have to clean the barrel like a flintlock. I just bought one from Mossberg's web page (arrived yesterday 12/21/08). It didn't come with any instructions. Fortunately, I found the manuals online at the following addresses: Muzzle Loader Barrel http://www.mossbergs.com/manuals/Muzzleloader.pdf 12 Gauge Shotgun Model 500… Read More
Think of a lead ball which is the diameter of the inside of the barrel of the shotgun. The gauge of the shotgun is the number of balls that size to make up one pound. 12 balls - 12 gauge 20 balls - 20 gauge 28 balls - 28 gauge Exception - .410 bore is the actual bore diameter
i have a 12 gauge unrifled barrel 500 model.what type of slug do you reccomend for the mossberg

What 12 gage shotgun would you recommend for an adult male who wants to try deer and bird hunting and what should you expect to pay for a new or used one?
Mossberg 500A "combo" with 28" accuchoke vent rib barrel and 20"rifled slug barrel. About $300 U.S.
Check the internal diameter of the barrel (disregarding the choke diameter). A 10 gauge is 0.78" (19.7 mm) A 12 gauge is 0.73" (18.5 mm)
It is the measurement of the bore size. The gauge is the number of balls the diameter of the barrel that could be made from a pound lead. So a lead ball weighing 1 1/3 ounces will fit in the barrel of a 12 gauge shotgun (12 * 1 1/3 = 16 ounces), a 1-ounce ball would fit a 16 gauge barrel, and one that weighs 4/5 ounce will fit a 20 gauge. The exception… Read More
A shotgun barrel with a cylinder bore choke.
yes a rifled shotgun barrel or smooth shotgun barrel
Buy Shotgun. Buy Shotgun.
Seldom go beyond 100 USD
One difference is that the inside of a shotgun barrel is smooth and the inside of a rifle barrel is what they call "fluted" which puts rotation on the bullet as it moves though the barrel.
The model with an 18.5" barrel has an overall length of 38.5", and with a 20" barrel, 41".
This is a shotgun with an internal barrel diameter (called the "bore) of approximately .410" which shoots a shell which is about .410" in diameter. It is the only shotgun shell size that uses this convention. A 12 gauge shotgun, for example, does not have a bore of "12". A 20 gauge shotgun has a smaller bore than a 12 gauge and a 10 gauge has a bigger bore than a 12. Gauge size is… Read More
What is the value of a Beebe arms double barrel shotgun?
I do not personally, but yes, there is a single shot rifle that can have the rifle barrel replaced with a shotgun barrel.
Look on the barrel to find out.
It will be printed on the barrel
Normally marked on the barrel.
Remove the barrel and then unscrew the magazine tube from the receiver. If the mag tube is too tight to remove easily, use pliers or visegrips ONLY on the very last inch of the tube where the barrel screwed in. It's the only solid part on the tube and it won't bend or crush.
from what I have the 28 " 2 3/4 & 3" magnum barrel is aprox .060 and the smooth bore slugster barrel(24") is aprox .073...I also saw on a post that the 2 3/4 non magnum barrell was .108 (aprox )
You can pretty much bet on full or modified, but the actual determination of choke is made by comparison the inside diameter of the muzzle to the inside diameter of the barrel before the bore. email@example.com
Yes, you can remove the barrel of a model 66 Shotgun!
A shotgun barrel with rifling.
The bore is the inside of the barrel of the gun. Bore dimension for most rifles is caliber, which is the bore diameter in fractions of an inch or in millimeters. Some older big game rifles had designations such as "12 bore", which is bore diameter the size of a shotgun barrel of the same gauge. Gauge is the number of round balls fitting the bore that can be made from a pound of lead.
