You will eed to pack a big coat!!!! the early Quarernary time period had long spans of cold weather and then short burts of warm weather. but you would not need to pack a dictionary! the earlt quartenamry time period the early homonoids (humans) began to evolve quckly. Make sure you don't make jfreinds with amany big animals because about halfway throught the quarternary period there was a mass extinction of large mammals.some survived like the elephant and rhino but the most famous of all the prehistoric animals the mamoth sorrowfull died. The quaternary time period id part of an era called the Cenzioc era and the Cenzoic era is called "The Age Of Mammals" because mammals became more common among the species during this time. mamals evolved to live in land, water, and air during this time. just like most species do today. the Cenzoic era lasted from about 65 million years ago to the present day.

you should pack lots of warm clothes, boots or snowshoes, weapons, and maybe climbing gear
Travelers in time in the Quaternary would probably like to see the leading edges of glaciation, the extinct large mammals, prehistoric man, and even their ancestors from the relatively recent past as we are still in the Quaternary. You could view the pyramids being built, Abe Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address.
One of the major geologic events was the continuing breakup of Pangaea (which began during the Jurassic). At the close of the Cretaceous period, another mass extinction occurred. Some scientists suggest that a large meteor impact may have been responsible.Another one is that by the end of the cretaceous period, all dinousars had died.
Winter is a time period but it would depend where you lived as to what months in the year it would be.
The period of Earth's time that would be considered longest is the Precambrian Era.

You could look out the window and see what's happening in the quaternary. We're in it.
i think travelers would pack armor or protection from the dinosaurs, and wear a LOT of camo

To know what period that is most present that you are wondering about, you would need to give options. Currently, we are in the Cenozoic Era, the Quaternary Period.
I would pack warm and cool clothes for going to this time period because of how seasonal the cenozoic eon is.
You're living in it right now! The Quaternery Period started 2,000,000 years ago and will end when humans become extinct.
Usually, quaternary consumers are at the top of the food chain. The only thing that would eat a quaternary consumer is another quaternary comsumer (like a human).
The middle of the Ordovician period would have been fairly mild. Plus there was abundant marine life for food. There was no animals, or plants on land. A traveler to this time Would need a shelter, and lots of fishing gear. Near the end of the period was an Ice Age, so winter clothing would be a must.
This is the Cenozoic era, near the boundary of Quaternary and Neogene periods, and therefore near the boundary of the Pleistocene and Pliocene epochs. Please see the link.
The earliest period when amphibious creatures crawled out of the ocean to walk on land would have been the Devonian Period. Following that were the Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous,Tertiary and Quaternary Periods.
