The white part of the eye is called the sclera. The colored circle in your eye is called the iris. The black spot in your eye is called the pupil. The pupil is actually a hole that gets bigger in the dark so it lets more light in. It gets smaller in the light so it could keep less light out of the eye.
Cornea - Transparent coat on front of eye, refracts light.
Retina - Light sensitive cells at back of inside of eyeball.
Iris - controls amount of light entering the eye. Controls pupil size
Pupil - hole allowing light into eye.
Sclera - White of eyeball
Lens - focuses light via refraction
Aqueous and vitreous humour - fluid in eye
Optic nerve - transmits signals from retina to brain
The basic parts of the eye are the lens, cornea, retina, central fovea, optic nerve. There are numerous other parts including the ciliary muscles, rods, cones, aqueous humor, etc.
