You must remove door panel, then ensure the door lock actuator is connected to the door lock latch. If not replace or repair, if it is properly attached, then you need to replace the door lock actuator. This involves removal of anything securing the actuator to door, including electrical connector. It may be held in by rivets, if so you may use nut's and bolts when installing new part (just ensure the length of the bolts do not interfere with window movement).
it has being disagned to loock only when door is closed(not to loock your kees )
stonemkr here and I would start by removing the inside door panel and get a visual. You could go online and get the specks for that model and electric scamatics ! Or yell at it and get it over with. Good Luck and patience is required here. Remove inside door panel and work lock while looking at mechanics of lock. Remember think safe!!
found this on another website, it may help.Replacing Power Lock Actuators ---- This post may be of interest to the 'occasional DIYfer' such as me. I have an 03 Odyssey and within a month or so I had two power locks 'go'. One on the front passenger door and one on the driverside sliding door. This of course occurred after the warranty had expired... at first I just decided to just live with it but after a while of constantly walking around the car to lock/unlock the doors manually, I decided to fix them.I started with the front passenger door... took me the best part of an hour and a half to dismantle it. You first have to take the door panel off... in my case, I didn't use a door panel tool and had no problems... I just used a flat screwdriver and the panel's clips popped off easily without breaking. You need to disconnect and take out the speaker, window switch and power lock switch. You then have to take 1/2 the plastic shield off. Then you'll see your lock actuator right against the door underneath the door lock mechanism and behind the window railing. Rather hard to get to it. You need to remove the window railing and dismantle the lock mechanism from the door itself... you can't just remove the actuator as it is screwed to the lock mechanism and of course the screws are facing the wrong way. The door lock actuator was about 55$ cdn. Reinstalling everything went quicker (about an hour).... have to be careful when reinstalling that you pay attention to how you reconnect the cables... make sure you don't leave them in path of the window railing...The following day I tackled the sliding door power lock. Much easier job. No switches on door panel... comes right off... didn't use a door panel tool either. The actuator is also screwed to the lock mechanism and you also have to take the full lock mechanism out... however, unlike the front door, you have easy access to the lock mechanism and it's only held in place by 3 screws. The lock actuator is around 65$ cdn with taxes... make sure you specify what Odyssey model you have as the base and higher models have different lock actuators. In terms of how long, I'd say it took me 30 minutes to dismantle everything and 20 minutes to put everything back together... much much easier then front door.BTW, the folks at the Honda parts counter told me these actuators have a tendency to break easily... Now I'm just hoping my other door actuators won't break... especially the front door.
Hey Christina==It is on the door edge above the lock assy on the rear of the door. GoodluckJoe
you mite try some lubrication, stick the red tube on wd40 or similar product in keyhole and between the window glass and bottom seal on both sides over lock area and over the catch area, also try lubing around and behind catch area. if no joy, mabey mechanical and take door apart. luck
yes, you need to close drivers door, open passenger door and use central locking button, then close passenger door and use key.
Your door lock actuator is faulty and needs to be replaced
getting to the actuator is easy..... how to remove the rods attached to it is something else.....
Using a slim Jim is too tough, your chances of failure are greater. Use a push rod, (a long metal item to hit power lock buttons, or unlock it manually)Slip it through the passenger/driver window from the top corner of the window just past the door trim.
Your Drivers window and door lock controls have stuck. You will need to replace the control unit. Around $45.00 at a salvage yard.
Lock on driver frot side is not working
Push all the door locks down manually and then lock the drivers door with your key if it will not stay locked when you push the lock down and shut the door.
Manually you can unlock the door using the inside lock (above the handle). Toggle it so the 'red' portion shows and the door is unlocked. With the remote, press the (unlock) button twice. The first press unlocks the driver side door, second press unlocks the passenger side. There's yet another option. You can set the door locks so both the driver and passenger doors unlock when you put the transmission in park (and lock when you put it in gear). You'll find that information on page 22 of your owners manual. Actually, you'll also find the other 'how to lock/unlock' info in the owners manual too. Cheers
it has being disagned to loock only when door is closed(not to loock your kees )
Because back then, all you did was parallel park so you would slide out of the passenger side and out the passenger side door since it was to the curb. Then you could lock your door and not be in traffic.
There should be
if it neither works manually or electricaly then the hardware inside the door has become detatched. pull the inside door panel off, roll the window up and you should be able to see all of the linkage. the clip that links the pieces together is inexpensive. if the door lock actuator is frozen in one position then it can also be accessed this way. It is not the fuse. You can lock it manually with a blown fuse. If it will not lock then the lock mechanism is broken, in some way. Real Answer It is not the fuse or lock mechanism, etc..., I had this problem when I first got my Civic, all you have to do is pull the door handle as if opening your door and either push the lock down or hit the autolock, ( you must pull the door handle out while locking) and this is the only way of manually lockin any Honda.
