The Crimean Peninsula or Crimea
The Crimean war took place in 1853 to 1856. The conflict was between Imperial Russia and an alliance of France, the United Kingdom, the kingdom of Sardinia, and the Ottoman Empire. Most of the war was fought on the Cremean Peninsula, now a part of the Ukraine. Battles took place near the Alma River, Kadikoi (Battle of Balaclava), Sevastopol (Battle of Chernaya River), Eupatoria, Inkerman, Petropavlovsk, Taganrog, the Kinburn Peninsula, Kurekdere, Malakoff, Sevastopol, and the last major battle at Kars.It was fought largely in the Crimea, Ukraine, near the Black Sea.
Black Hawk Down is based on the Battle of Mogadishu, or Operation Gothic Serpent. The battle took place on October 23rd, 1993 in the city of Mogadishu, Somalia.
