Here are the simple instructions to get your HomeLink to work with your Toyota.

This applies for a Toyota Sienna 2005-2010 this is how I finally figured out how to program my HomeLink revolving code garage door opener.

1. you have to wipe out your old codes. Hold HomeLink 1 & 3 for 20 seconds.

2. you have to set the HomeLink into revolving code mode by "trying to teach it" using your remote for your garage door hold remote 1 inch from the HomeLink unit in your Toyota. Press and hold the HomeLink button you want to program and your remote garage door openner at the same time for 20 seconds. Now pressing the HomeLink button should blink very fast which means its in Revolving Code mode.

3. Only now that the HomeLink is in revolving code mode can you really teach it. You now set your Garage Opener into Learning/Training mode by pressing the button inside your garage door opener. Now you have 30 seconds to get back to your Toyota and Hold the same HomeLink button for two seconds until it goes from fast blinking to solid, then do this once more for 2 seconds and again it will flash fast for the first two seconds then go solid.

4. Your HomeLink in your Toyota should now be programmed correctly to open/close your garage door but you must hold it for the two seconds each time as it goes from fast flashing to a solid color in order to open/close your garage door.

It took me 30 minutes to figure out the trick but now I can program all 3 of my home links in about 1 minute each following the steps above (except for #1 which clears all the old codes initially :)

One thing to add for Canadian users (such as me). In step 2 where you are "trying to teach", the instructions are slightly different for Canadian users. Canadian law limits the signal sent out to a maximum 2 second burst (US has no limitation). So once you are holding the desired HomeLink button down, instead of also holding the garage door opener remote button down, you have to click madly like a maniac sending out burst after burst. Position the garage door opener close enough to the HomeLink receiver in your Sienna so that they are actually touching. Then hold down the desired HomeLink button, and start clicking your garage remote like a madman while moving it around against the HomeLink receiver. The HomeLink light on your Sienna will start to blink quickly when it accepts the signal (should only take about 3-4 seconds). Release both buttons. Then when you push and hold the HomeLink button, you should see it flash very quickly as Charles described. Proceed to step 3. The second push of step 3 when you hold in the HomeLink button for 2 seconds will actually open (or close) your garage door.

How do you set up the garage sensor in your Nissan 350z?

1. To begin, press and hold the 2 outer HomeLink buttons (to clear the memory) until the indicator light blinks slowly (after 20 seconds). Release both buttons. 2. Position the end of the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface. 3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the HomeLink button you want to program and the hand-held transmitter button. DO NOT release the buttons until step 4 has been completed. 4. Hold down both buttons until the indicator light on the HomeLink flashes, changing from a "slow blink" to a "rapidly flashing blink". This could take up to 90 seconds. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. The rapidly flashing light indicates successful programming. To activate the garage door or other programmed device, press and hold the programmed HomeLink button - releasing when the device begins to activate. 5. If the indicator light on the HomeLink blinks rapidly for two seconds and then turns solid, HomeLink has picked up a "rolling code" garage door opener signal. You will need to proceed with the next steps to train the HomeLink to complete the programming which may require a ladder and another person for convenience. 6. Press and release the "smart" or "learn" program button located on the garage door opener's motor to activate the "training mode". This button is usually located near the antenna wire that hangs down from the motor. If the wire originates from under a light lens, you will need to remove the lens to access the program button. NOTE:Once you have pressed and released the program button on the garage door opener's motor and the "training light" is lit, you have 30 seconds in which to perform step 7. Use the help of a second person for convenience to assist when performing this step. 7. Quickly within 30 seconds of pressing and releasing the garage door opener program button, firmly press and release the HomeLink button you've just programmed. Press and release the HomeLink button up to three times to complete the training. 8. Your HomeLink button should now be programmed. (To program the remaining HomeLink buttons for additional door or gate openers, follow steps 2-8 only. NOTE: Do not repeat step one unless you want to"clear" all previously programmed HomeLink buttons). If you have any questions or are having difficulty programming your HomeLink buttons, please refer to the HomeLink website at: www. homelink.com or call 1-800-NISSAN-1 (1- 800-647-7261). PROGRAMMING HomeLink FOR CANADIAN CUSTOMERS Prior to 1992, D.O.C. regulations required handheld transmitters to stop transmitting after 2 seconds. To program your hand-held transmitter to HomeLink , continue to press and hold the HomeLink button (note steps 2 through 4 under "Programming HomeLink ") while you press and re-press ("cycle") your hand-held transmitter every 2 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly (indicating successful programming). NOTE: If programming a garage door opener, etc., it is advised to unplug the device during the "cycling" process to prevent possible damage to the garage door opener components. OPERATING THE HomeLink UNIVERSAL TRANSCEIVER The HomeLink Universal Transceiver (once programmed) may now be used to activate the garage door, etc. To operate, simply press the appropriate programmed HomeLink Universal Transceiver button. The red indicator light will illuminate while the signal is being transmitted. PROGRAMMING TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS If the HomeLink does not quickly learn the hand-held transmitter information: replace the hand-held transmitter batteries with new batteries. position the hand-held transmitter with its battery area facing away from the HomeLink surface. press and hold both the HomeLink and hand-held transmitter buttons without interruption. position the hand-held transmitter 2 to 5 inches (50 to 127 mm) away from the HomeLink surface. Hold the transmitter in that position for up to 15 seconds. If HomeLink is not programmed within that time, try holding the transmitter in another position - keeping the indicator light in view at all times. If you continue to have programming difficulties, please contact the NISSAN Consumer Affairs Department. The phone numbers are located in the Foreword of this Owner's Manual. CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED INFORMATION Individual buttons cannot be cleared, however to clear all programming, press and hold the two outside buttons and release when the indicator light begins to flash (approximately 20 seconds). REPROGRAMMING A SINGLE HomeLink BUTTON To reprogram a HomeLink Universal Transceiver button, complete the following. 1. Press and hold the desired HomeLink button. Do not release the button until step 4 has been completed. 2. When the indicator light begins to flash slowly (after 20 seconds), position the handheld transmitter 2 to 5 inches (50 to 127 mm) away from the HomeLink surface. 3. Press and hold the hand-held transmitter button. 4. The HomeLink indicator light will flash, first slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light begins to flash rapidly, release both buttons. The HomeLink Universal Transceiver button has now been reprogrammed. The new device can be activated by pushing the HomeLink button that was just programmed. This procedure will not affect any other programmed HomeLink buttons. IF YOUR VEHICLE IS STOLEN If your vehicle is stolen, you should change the codes of any non-rolling code device that has been programmed into HomeLink . Consult the Owner's Manual of each device or call the manufacturer or dealer of those devices for additional information. When your vehicle is recovered, you will need to reprogram the HomeLink Universal Transceiver with your new transmitter information. FCC Notice: This device complies with FCC rules part 15. How do you Program homelink?

Programming Homelink is very easy. If you have access to the internet, simply visit the general homelink training page and watch the video (http://www.homelink.com/training/video.tml). These instructions are applicable to any Homelink vehicle system. (A simple way to do this without watching the video is to just push the "learn" button on the back of your garage door opener main box and then push and hold--just a few seconds--whichever Homelink button you want it to recognize. Usually your garage door opener main box will beep or flash when it has recognized the signal.) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Would like to add that for certain models (I have Craftsman) you need to have a programmed remote from which the homelink system can learn. You need to press buttons 1 and 3 on the homelink for about 20 seconds which puts it in the learn mode. Then press the button that needs to be programmed while pressing the button on the handheld remote. The garage door will open/ close due to this. The light will first flash slowly and then rapidly in the homelink system. If it still doesnt work, the next step is to press the learn button in the main unit and then press the same homelink button in the car for about 2 seconds a couple of times. I have also noticed that the handheld remote needs to be placed really close for the system to learn (during the initial learn mode) and you may need to try different angles.
