I think one of the main reasons people hold prejudice beliefs is because they have a irrational fear to the unknown. For example I fear mice and I know that they aren't dangerous but either way it makes me nervous. But that is on a personal level, how would it affect society. That is my query. Why people have a prejudice and what gives rise to it. Fear you said is one factor, though irrational we still have it. What other factors are affecting the society through prejudice.
Because they don't have God in their lives. It is a form of hate. We should view each other as "souls" and not "colors".

Prejudice means judging a person without really knowing them (pre-judging). Racism means being prejudiced because of their race. All racists are prejudiced, but not all people who are prejudiced are racists. You can be prejudiced against men or against women, against old people or young people, or against fat people or thin people. Racists just look at skin color, eye shape, and other traits that tell your race. People who are prejudiced are ignorant, and they make these judgments because they don't understand the other person. Educated people are not prejudiced because they know that all people are basically the same.
The base word for prejudiced is judge.
