Yes, but i wouldn't let it chew on it because it could ruin his teeth. Guinea pigs are great at gnawing wood and stuff, but if it accidentally eats the cardboard of a toilet paper role it could make him sick or choke him to death.

∙ 14y agoGerbils will not eat toilet paper tubes, but they will - and can - chew them up. It is entertaining for the gerbils, and their teeth benefit somewhat.

Do not use metal cat toys, they will try to nibble on it and break their teeth. Plastic ones, with little bells in them would work. If your gerbils start to nibble on it, do not take it out. If they are nibbling on it all day, you should consider giving them a toilet paper tube instead, that tells you they want to chew, not play with the cat toy. Helpful Hint: The toilet paper tubes they chew up helps with odor problems in their bedding, and also makes more bedding itself for them!
