I don't think they should have an extra one because the reason why they got to school is to learn Japan and China have their kids go to school way longer than us and they only get Sunday off in some schools. We only think this way because we are Americans and only think about more more more.

โ 14y agoYes! Kids should have longer recess because they need time to burn off energy instead of in class. When kids go outside they need time to relax from all the learning that they did. Instead of letting their food just sit there they can burn it off by running around. The will build stamina and lose weight. When the kids don't have recess they will be so tired during class and if they are tired from the morning it will wake them up. In my opinion kids should have longer recess and at my school we only have 10 minutes and they should improve it. They should make recess at least 30 minutes.

โ 12y agoIt really depends on what the school thinks. Recess does help kids by giving them exersize and just being time to relax, but maybe there just isn't enough time in the day to take out of education. Also, there might not be enough adults to supervise.

โ 12y agoKids should have more recess because they need to be more active and energetic to learn new things. what i mean is that they are lazy because they dont move their bodies.

Why is it bad to have shorter recess time for children?
Schools are wasting money on equipment they don't need, only kindergarten should get that and schools are wasting time on recess when they should be educating the kids. Their totally missing the point of school; giving kids an education. They should get like two minute breaks throughout the day but not half an hour or one hour recesses with basketballs, footballs, and other play equipment!!!!
Why kids should have extra recess?
Children's attention span is not mature enough to sit in class all day like more mature beings such as high schoolers. It also helps their brain develop when playing the games they play at recess and helps develop their social skills as a child Usually a little fun causes kids to focus more. I don't know how, but that's just the way it is. Older kids have longer breaks or recesses because they have more to concentrate and focus on than younger kids. Extra recess can help kids more but it depends on what level of difficulty they are dealing with in classes.
